While performing one of the excercises that induces MILD i have encountered some rather embarassing issues...

The MILD excercise says that you should repeat "Am I dreaming or awake?" at least 5-10 times a day and the occations you choose should be when you experience something that is likely to be in your dream.

Anyway... My problem is that I've a girl at school that i like very much and I often dream about her. Should I say everytime i see her "Am I dreaming or awake?", because it feels rather embarassing and inconvenient to say that line while in the food queue and the girl i like stands only a few metres away from me... ?!

Do you really have to say it our is it sufficient to just think instead of saying.

      thanks for your help!
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

      ohhhh sexy sexy senioritaaaa

anywho, no need to say it outloud, just think it and look around for any abnormalities, once you have support that you are not dreaming, you can say "i am not dreaming" in your mind.

Actually i sort of disagree (if i can)

I think by saying it out loud, your chances of saying it in a dream are increased. Sort of like repeating a telephone number out loud until you memorize it. I think it further strengthens the foundation of the dream sign, and you will then be more likely to repeat it in your dreams to become lucid, instead of just think it. You might want to say it in your head with that particular dream sign, (the girl you like), and then say it out loud with a seperate dream sign and see if they differ, cause i def. could be wrong seeing as i dont have much experience in this technique at all. Hope i help though :yumdumdoodledum:

Different reality checks work better for some people. I like comparing my wristwatch to a wall clock, but a lot of others like the plugging your nose and trying to breathe one.

I don't think there's any need to say it out loud - it may be an inopportune time like during class or something. As long as you REALLY think about it and don't just automatically answer yourself, saying it to yourself is acceptable. Just make sure it's a quality reality check when you're doing it.

      And welcome to the forum!

simply look at some writing, ie menu or a poster then look away and look back to see if it,s the same, if your dreaming it will change.
