I'd like say hello to all within the community. I am new to this site but intend to change that in time. A little information for those who can be bothered to read.

First known lucid dream was several years ago (not too sure exactly when)
Last lucid dream, last night. I would like to point out, however, that this was my second lucid dream (that I know of). I would also like to say that this was my first attempt at...err, conciously?... trying to become lucid. I must admit that I thought I would fail at my first attempt, so im sure you can understand that I was a little surprised at succeeding. However, the shock of success ended the dream shortly after, before i had a chance to recover it.

Now I am hoping to glimpse it one more time tonight.

But I would like to know, how common is it to become lucid on a first attempt?

      Hi Dragonsworn,

Welcome to DreamViews forum! Congrats on your first conscious attempt!

However, I cannot answer you on that "how common it is to become lucid on a first attempt?" question since I have been dreaming lucid naturally. So, I cannot answer that from my experience; however, I have had dry spells before and I'd be able to become lucid on my first attempt. It really depends on if you have enough of will to do it. If you just go to sleep, you won't become lucid will you?

Anyways, once again, I say, welcome!

Don't trust what you are seeing right now because you might be dreaming right now. Be LUCID! I repeat, be LUCID!

Hi! Welcome on board. I hope you do stick around and become an active member.

In the three years I've been here on DV, I've seen a lot of people stop by that have never had a lucid dream before. From what I've seen, it is pretty rare for someone to have an LD on the first night they try, probably less than 2%. Sounds like you may have some natural ability.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

I'd like to thank you both for your warm welcome, and look forward to sharing LD's with you in the future

I agree with Seeker, success on the first try is pretty rare for most people. I believe it shows that you have confidence and as positive attitude, and are likely to have more success in the future. Congrats, and good luck!

Oh yeah, and welcome to DV!
