Okay: WBTB doesn't neccessarily have to do with lucid dreaming.

All WBTB is, is waking up, staying awake for a bit and then going back to sleep. The theory behind this is that you'll get an REM boost for that last bit of your sleep after you go back to bed. This can have an impact on chances of becoming lucid, or even just boosting vividity and recall in non-lucids.

WILD, MILD, and all those other techniques on the other hand,m are things you actually do ONCE you go back to bed. You can use MILD without WBTB, and WILD too in theory, though in practice WILD is much more effective with WBTB.
