So I've been interested in Ld'ing for a few months now, and I have had a few lucid experiences, but they were fleeting and I had very low-level lucidity. I'm going to try again tonight and I have a few quesitons.

1: The first time I have a good LD, is it really that great? Is it really like I imagine it, actually stepping out of your body and being completely free?

2: Will I wake up in the morning groggy or feel like I didn't sleep at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum:

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

      1. Better! The feeling can't really be described. Its like the Matrix. No one can be told, you have to experience it for yourself. But reports say thats its an amazing and wonderous thing because of the absolutely freedom you experience.

      2. No, not at all! Infact, many actually wake up seemingly more refreshed.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I disagree with Kev in relation to question 1... for me, my lucids (when I get them) vary. WILDs tend to be vivid and I get a rising out of my body ensation, but most of my non-WILD lucids are a bit more "groggy" at first. And, I don't have instantaneous dream control either.

As to question 2: No, Exo's completely right. Lucid Dreaming dfoesn't mean you loose any sleep. All that lucid dreaming is, is being aware you are dreaming within a dream. Doing that doesn't make you loose any sleep. In any case, the actual "rest" and regeneration that occurs in sleep happens in deep sleep, slow eye movement periods, whereas dreaming occurs in REM light sleep periods. So even if dreaming makes you sleep "worse" in REM (which it doesn't to my knowledge), you're still not loosing the actual rest that occurs during deep sleep.

To the first he did say the first experience. Afterwords I would completely agree that all vary. But I would believe that the first time someone experiences an LD they would be overwhelmed, which is why a persons first LD is ussually so short. Not to mention its not really a physical or emotional enjoyment, more of a mental one trying to get around the sheer amount of choices and things you can do.

But, then again, my experience is limited at this point so a more experienced answer may be better.
