Hello all.
I found this site because for the past few years I had been having dreams where I realized they were dreams and I was able to do whatever I wanted. Fly around, shoot fireballs from my hands, pick up the heaviest objects, move things with my minds; and I never understood why.
So I searched google for "control your dreams" and I came to this site. I guess it is officially called Lucid Dreaming?

Very interesting site, read a few things. Read the beginners stuff on how to Lucid Dream, and then got into the other stuff like doing whatever I want in the dreams for advance LD's.
I was just curious, how come from day one of my Lucid Dreaming (Begin of 6th Grade), until now (18 years old) I have been able to control and do whatever I want. I never just started off and was only able to to certain things. My very first Lucid Dream I was flying around the school. Like I never had anyone tell me, ok when you realize its a dream, you do this this and this. I just did it all naturally.
Ever since 6th grade I have been able to have Lucid Dreams if I want. When I dream and I realize its a Dream, I will either just have fun and do whatever I want, or simply just go along with my dream and see where my mind takes me.

Welcome to Dream Views, man.
First off, just so there is no confusion, the "Lucid Dreaming" part is just knowing that you're dreaming. Controlling the dream is, appropriately enough, "Dream Control." Many people are lucid without control and, still, many others have dream control without being lucid. You have both, which is good, and how a few of us have started off.

I don't think there is any one particular reason that you were able to start controlling your dreams, by yourself. I have been lucid dreaming since I was a kid and did a lot of things, without ever even having heard of "dream control" being something that people were capable of. It's just the same as any other developed skill, I guess, just something you can either do on your own, or something someone can coach you until. People are different, so their learning experiences with LDing and dream control are going to be different.

Hey cloudy,
Welcome! im new to the forum too, but...like you...not to lucid dreaming. I think I describe them the same way...I would always have these really vivid dreams that I could just do whatever I wanted. I lost it for a while but picked it up again in high school. I don't know why I would always have these dreams, but I do remember when i was very young telling myself, "dreams are really important." I wonder if just recognizing them and giving them that energy may be all is needed to enhance them..?

How do those dreams compare to your regular dreams? Are they much more vivid and do you have a high degree of control?

Hey. Thanks for the welcome everyone.
So Dream Control is when you are able to do whatever you want in the dream, but youre not actually controlling it? It is just happening in the dream?
So what do you call when you know its a dream and you take full advantage of it.
Like I had a dream where I was being chased by some monster type guy, then I realized it was just a dream. So I gave myself super human strength and the ability to shoot fire out of my hands.. Lets just say the guy wasnt to scary after that.. Haha.

Waving on oceans, iam not quite sure what you mean on that question. How does what compare to regular dreams, and what do you mean regular dreams? Dreams where it just is normal everyday life type of things, or regular dreams where I can do amazing things, but I am not actually doing it myself, it is just apart of the dream.

For example I had a LD last night. I dont remember how I even realized it was a dream, I think I just fell asleep and was like.. "Ok this is a dream, lets have fun.. Hrmm what to do." So I went along with the dream for awhile, it turned out it was some school trip on a bus to like Disneyworld or something. So I got bored in the middle of it, so I decided to be like Superman. I put on the suit, and flew threw the ceiling of the bus. Haha.
I then decided I was gonna go fight bad guys. So after doing that I was just walking around, just thinking about stuff, and then I remembered this site and how what I was doing was called Lucid Dreaming, and I believe I even thought about how I was gonna post this exact dream on the site.. LOL. I then remembered reading a post on the forums about flying in it, and how it can be complicated. And I read some of the tips about how to get going. So I just started to do what I normally do, but I must add, the tip about thinking you are just floating with the wind would make it a little easier to get going. Cause the second I thought about that tip, I started to float.. and i was like wtf? So after all that thought about flying, I decided to see how fast I could fly. So I run jump and take off and start flying, and keep trying to fly faster. Even though it was just a dream, It was by far the fastest Ive ever flown in a dream, it was crazy.
And being the guy I am, the second I accomplished something that was incredible, I wanted to go brag to my friends. So I reached into my pocket normally looking for my cell phone to text my buddies.. But then i remembered. "damn it.. just a dream." oh well.

Dream control is when you have control of yourself and/or your surroundings, in the dream. If you don't know you are dreaming, many people can still shoot fireballs and change things around, as well as make conscious decisions (controlling themselves, instead of watching themselves as if they were watching a movie). Either of these can be done without "being lucid" (knowing you're dreaming.) That would be a non-lucid dream with dream control.

If you know you are dreaming, and are able to make conscious decisions ("I'm going to run this way. I'm going to run that way. I'm going to shoot fireballs from my hands" etc.) then that is a lucid dream, with dream control.

I like Oneiraunt's description. Its a lucid dream by simply knowing your are dreaming, even if you cant change things. There are dreams where you can control or influence whats going on, but still be under the impression you are in the real world. Thats something I am just starting to get- LD and DC are related but very different.

cloudy- the dream you described is the type I am hoping to learn to manifest. I often have dreams where I can affect the surrounding or fly or do crazy things...but have only flshes of lucidity. I often cannot have long, drawn out, complex thoughts in dreams like you described. Sometimes I can, like realizing Im wearing the same shirt I had when I fell asleep while I am dreaming- just before leaping over a terkoiz lake and running into some crazy character which grabs my attention. For a moment I can recognize im in a dream, but its only a flash. The type you describe is what I am trying to get to- bringing my aware thinking mind into my dreams. That seems much more "solid" or "meaty" of an experience.

How do you bring your daily consciousness into your dreams? If your a natural this probably sounds like and impossible question I guess what I mean is, can you describe how the dream feels different before you go lucid to after? What changes...

Man, I am just glad to have good memory of my dreams now. I had this one where liberals and republicans were all living inside this town me and a group of people got stuck in while on a roadtrip. I was riding around on a motorcycle and the liberals and republicans were yelling at each other across town. Since I only started my journey a week ago and am progressing quickly, I suspect control very soon. Ahhhh yes, it seems so close and I can hardly wait. As for you, your lucky!

Cymek,
Hey there. Have you noticed how your recall has jumped? When I first started a dream journal within a month I was writing down on average three dreams a night, each at least a paragraph of details. For some mysterious reason (I got lazy) I stoped writing down my dreams rihgt when I started having a lot of success. Just keep at it and keep it up. Right when you think you will give it a break is when you should keep the journals going.

Iam not exactly sure what the question means entirely.. Ya I am natural and never had any books or (anything to help develop LD.
I guess if your question means, is there any difference in how I remember the dream while I am LD before I was LD? Uhmm usually not really, I can remember both parts fairly well. And If I do end up LD'n, it usually happens before I get to deep into the dream.
When I LD I choose whether or not to control what is around me. Its not a matter of if I can do this or that, its a matter of if I want to.
I usually do not put much thought into my LD when I did it before, but up until recently, and me finding out about this site and what I am doing is actually called. I now think about my experience while I am LD because of this site. Not because of something I learned, I havnt read enough, but because I now think about certain things while I am dreaming. Like last nite I was thinking.. "Ok so what I am doing now, being able to control my dream, is called Lucid Dreaming? Hrm ok, oh ya my account just got activated on the forums so I can post about this when I wake up." LOL that is pretty much a word for word thought I was having while dreaming.
Oh and one of the things that I remembered while I was dreaming was, that people constantly said that once they realized they were LD they would wake up.
Just because I thought about reading other peoples experience in waking up, I wanted to.. But I kept myself from waking up. It was weird, I never had to do that before.

So what is it called that I do?
I am able to recognize that I dreaming. I am able to completely control everything around me in any sense what so ever. For example, I was having a dream where I wanted to fight off these lil monster type things, they really looked like the Nuclear mutants in 'Hills Have Eyes'.) I was in complete control of the dream, I was aware I was dreaming, I was able to do whatever I wanted. So I was basically fighting off a whole bunch of guys by throwing fire balls at them (Fireballs seem to be my favorite thing to do), and then I just got surrounded by these guys in my dream, like there were to many. So finally after constantly fighting them, and there was just to many, I told myself ok forget this I am tired of it. And I made them all disappear.

So is this just called LD with complete Dream Control?

Perfect example, that type of moment by moment though is very hard for me. I can control my dreams and be somewhat lucid (like i know i am dreaming) but it isn't solid where I could have such a linear thought. I mean I do have those moments, but as soon as I do I feel this sinking back into the dream thing. For some reason when I start thinking in my dream, like say "Ok I want to do this." By the time I am doing it my mind is already off and away. i wouldn't be able to plan something out or connect different thoughts. For example: I had a lucid dream where I was sitting on a grassy lawn behind several houses, the lawn connecting them. I was sitting with my friend Dustin and surrounded by other people my age. There was a professor there teaching something. I was talking to Dustin when I turned to the other students. They had disappeared. Then I looked to the Professor, he was gone too. I got a funny feeling, so turned to Dustin to tell him about it: Poof! He was gone too. I knew I was dreaming. Suddenly I went from sitting to standing in a blink of an eye. I looked down at my feet as I saw them lifting off the ground. "Ok im dreaming, and now I am going to float up." As I did I could not stop my mind from rushing, I felt this pulling down while also rising. I could recognize that beacuse i was talking to myself my thoughts were holding me down. I rose up to just above the roofs and trees before slowly descending down where I found an antique silver phone resting on the grass where I had floated up from. Beind "aware" of thedream changed from an exhilerating thought to a dense awareness which brought me back down. I guess the message was "Pick up the Phone!" I immediately woke up.

I would love to bring my daily consciousness into these dreams, yet the matter-of-fact type thoughts you describe would be very hard for me to produce and sustain while dreaming. It almost like my daily awareness throws off my DC, creating some sort of dream friction. When I am not so "lucid" and aware of myself as dreaming is when I have the more colorful absurd dreams.

Im still trying to figure out the details, Practice Practice huh?

Ya I think just practice would be the best thing. Like I said I do not know really how to perfect the skills, from day one I was pretty much able to do whatever I want.
I remember I was in 6th grade and I was dreading going back to school, so one dream I had during summer vacation was.. It was time to go back to school. and I was in class. Then I realized that it was a dream because I was still on Summer Vacation so it couldnt be real. So I then started to fly around the school campus. Haha.

Man, I had to write at least three paragraphs in this dream I had last night. The setting kept changing and changing. I didn't even write the entire thing down, there was one major section I left out cause it was pretty fuzzy. I didn't even write down the other dream I had cause I went to sleep immediatly after waking. I am starting to think my dreams are long and meaningless while yours are short and meaningful.
