Post

Greetings from the land of millions of sheep.

Dreaming is something I've always loved and when I first heard about Lucid dreaming a few years ago I found it hard to belive that a dream could be that real and be able to control it.

At that time I half heartily tried but naturally got no where.
Just recently I have started taking it a bit more seriously again and will try to stick at it longer this time.
To date, I have only just once, briefly became lucid in a dream. And this was in between the 2 times I was interested in lucid dreaming.

It was a few years after my father had passed on... and he showed up in a dream and at the time I realized, hey dad can't be here, he's dead.... I must be dreaming..
"Woohoo"
... which was then quickly followed by f**k f**k f**k f**k as I woke up out of my dream.

Since then, I have dreamed about my father again, but this time I haven't been able to make the connection and just went with the flow of the dream and not break into it, as it were.
I really want to be able to become lucid in a dream and experience this because, to be totally honest I find it hard to believe that it can seem as real as real life.
I know I have had some incredibly vivid dreams in the past that have seemed totally real so to an extent I can believe it.. but being able to control what happens? wow..would be very cool to experience.

Sorry for the long intro, looking forward to chatting with you all and hopefully learning more.

Cheers
Andy

Welcome to the forum! We're terribly glad to have you. It's awesome that you are so interested in dreaming. I hope that you find success in LDing. It is an amazing thing, and it can be as real, if not moreso than real life....

Have fun!

Welcome!!!!! We've a couple representative Aussies around here. You'll make a fine addition to the collection.

You already know that lucid dreaming is real, and that you can do it. That's way more than most people have going for them when they begin trying to put this thing together. Dig into the tutorials and the journals of those having the most success... and have fun!

I just wanted to comment on that part, because it really can be as real as anything you've ever experienced. Sometimes I just stand there, staring at it, marveling at its beauty. It's genius. (Sorry for Matrix reference.) Seriously, it can be so gorgeous and so real and it blows me away that my mind is rendering all of it in real-time. The details are just incredible.

Many people remember their dreams as being somewhat blurry, but when you're there, completely lucid, anything you look at is 100% as clear as being awake. It really is incredible.

Yayyyyyyy another Kiwi

Yeah I think I gave people the wrong impression with the "down under" bit, but I hoped that the "from the land of millions of sheep" would have been the hint
