      Congratulations, man.

One thing you might want to try (make sure you can remember to do it) is looking at your hands. What this does for me is make the dream much more solid. You can stop and take this time to gather yourself, and realize that this is your dream, and you can do whatever you want. Visually, the dream will probably become much more detailed, around you, and - if you have any doubt in your mind about being omnipotent - the physics could be tough to control, and it could feel like waking life.
Just take the time to relax, and remove the doubt from your mind, that you can do anything. Then, (relating to the situation you were in, being locked in school) just run (or fly) in any direction, phase through the walls and end up outside.

Great job on your first lucid. It's like x-mas when it finally happens. As O said, looking at your hands really does the trick. I always use this technique, and it rarely fails. Good luck to you in your future LD endeavors.

Ah ok that sounds good, thanks a lot for the advice =), it wasnt an extremely vivid world that's definently true, but it was much more vivid then a normal dream. I probably would have checked my hands, but the wierd thing is, I tried to do lucid dreaming starting in october for about 3 months until I gave up hope. I had pretty much stopped thinking about it for about a month now, and I finally have one. Its kinda strange, but does that mean I should try to pursue lucid dreaming in the same techniques I had been trying, now that I know what a lucid dream is really like?
