When I had my first lucid dream, about a year ago, I was so unbelievably disappointed that I gave it up straight after that. It felt so unreal, I thought "What's the point?" I couldn't believe there was so much hype about something so, well, mundane... Just recently I learnt there are techniques to help you make your dreams more vivid and real. So now I'm trying to LD again. But I haven't had any success.

I could definitely think clearly in my dream, though. Before, I was just sort of going along with the dream's storyline, but then at one point I just thought, "Nah screw it, this is my dream, I can do what I want." So I tried to fly instead. That was it, no startling revelation for me!

Once you hit the REM period it's as realistic as waking life. There are techniques to keep it that way. Some people find it hard to remember their lucid goals while in a dream. However, I have never had this problem.
