      Lightbulb hazy

ive been trying to have lucid dreams (none yet) but i just have a couple question.

in all of the dreams i remember it is very very hazy. when im in a dream i have no idea where i am or even who i am. its kind of like you’re a zombie in a dream. so my question is are lucid dreams more realistic? once you realize its a dream is it like your having some huge revelation? can you think clearly in a lucid dream or is your thinking process still hazy and confusing

Seems like your dreams just don't have a lot of clarity or you aren't recalling them very well so they may be like old memories or just what I said first.

Lucid Dreams in my case are more vivid than life itself, I wouldn't exactly say it's a revelation it's just "Oh I must be dreaming" or at least in my case may be different with other people. Yes you can think clearly in a lucid dream.

Welcome to the site and have yourself some fun.

There are "levels" of lucidity that you can reach, actually. For a dream to be lucid, the only requisite is that you're aware that you're dreaming. Sometimes, though, it may just be a passing thought such as, "If I were dreaming I would..." do something. I'd consider that pre-lucid. Then there's low, medium, and high-level lucidity depending on how clear you are able to think and control the dream environment.

It could just be a phase that you're going through. Sometimes I have phases where my dreams are so dull that they're not worth remembering... like when I dream of work. *growl* (They don't pay me to dream about work...) Sometimes, too, I just get what I call "anxiety dreams" where I'm anxious or worried about something, usually when I'm being chased. They don't happen all the time, but can be triggered by stress or lack of sleep.

I hope that helped answer your question. Let me know if I wasn't clear (which is likely since I just returned from work) or if you have any other questions Welcome to DV!

When I had my first lucid dream, about a year ago, I was so unbelievably disappointed that I gave it up straight after that. It felt so unreal, I thought "What's the point?" I couldn't believe there was so much hype about something so, well, mundane... Just recently I learnt there are techniques to help you make your dreams more vivid and real. So now I'm trying to LD again. But I haven't had any success.

I could definitely think clearly in my dream, though. Before, I was just sort of going along with the dream's storyline, but then at one point I just thought, "Nah screw it, this is my dream, I can do what I want." So I tried to fly instead. That was it, no startling revelation for me!

Once you hit the REM period it's as realistic as waking life. There are techniques to keep it that way. Some people find it hard to remember their lucid goals while in a dream. However, I have never had this problem.
