      Hey!

Yup! Another one of these pointless introduction threads. However, from what I see, you guys actually read them, as opposed to other forums.

Anyways, I've been a lurker of this site for a few weeks, and I've finally decided to get serious about Lucid Dreaming. Very commonly, I'll have sort of a 'semi-dream'. As in, I'm awakeish, I can feel every part of my body, and sometimes even hear stuff going on. However, I can see/feel/hear a dream going on at the same time. It's strange. While looking for information on this, I stumbled across the Wikipedia article for Lucid Dreaming. Do anything? Without consequence? Sign me freaking up! Some Google searching brought me to this site.

I've attempted to keep a Dream Journal, but it's been useless so far. Not the journal, I mean. My efforts have been useless. I wake up, I don't move, and I remember everything about my last few dreams. I roll over once, reach half a foot to grab a pen and paper, and have forgotten all but the smallest little details. I right those down like people say to, but nothing else comes to me. It's annoying. I'm actually thinking that if I don't go to write it down right away, and instead take 10 minutes or so to get out of bed and start my morning routine before writing stuff down, I might actually remember things better.

Also, as you can tell from my signiature, I have had three lucid dreams. While the dreams I described earlier are lucid dreams, I'm not including them in that count. In each one, I performed an RC by looking at my hands, but had zero control. I'm looking to try the WILD method, but to be honest, I'm scared of it. I'm fine with the visual hallucinations that potentially come with Hypnogogia, but the auditory stuff is too much for me. The one time I managed to come close, I heard a bunch of screaming and panicked.

Anyways, I hope I manage to fit in at Dreamviews, and hopefully, with the help of you guys, I can begin to LD a little better.
      Current Lucid count: 7
Number of lucid dreams more than 1 minute long: 2

      DILD: 5
      DEILD: 1
      WILD: 1

Hello Myrai, and welcome to Dream Views!

About the dream recall - I have the same problem. I can usually solve it by starting at one point and working backwards. So I remember being at a bus stop. Then I ask myself what I was doing, why I was doing it, how I got there, and what I would do from there. I can also retrieve details by going over yesterday. What happened, who I was with. Many times this will jog your memory, and once you have one piece, you can go from there.

And I feel your pain with WILD/Hynogogia. I've never successfully WILDed - I backed out twice after hearing footsteps, creaks, and my door opening . I can't stand it.

Welcome to Dream Views Myrai! Cool name. :p

It's great that you've taken an interest in lucid dreaming, most people don't even know that they have the regular variety. You'll find that Dream Views is pretty much the best site on LDs around, and it's active to boot.

Anyways, you're not alone with your recall difficulties. I find I have the same problem more often than not. Many times I remember very little upon awakening and then have the rest of the dream hit me hours later. Your problem seems even worse, though, so if you think getting up-and-moving before trying to remember will work, try it! Just don't give up!

WILD sounds pretty cool on paper but a lot of people are intimidated by the paralysis. There are plenty of other techniques to try though, like MILD & HILD. Combinations are good too.

      Happy dreaming
