Why don't i notice my reality checks in a dream?

I have started to do the finger count technique as my RC, but I did it in my dreams last night and the first time I had 3 fingers, the seccond time I had 7, both times I thought nothing of it, I just thought. "Oh 7 fingers, thats real." Does anyone have a better RC or know why I didn't put two and two together?

Oh my god, can you work out the puzzle?

That is pretty common. Most of the time your sleeping mind will accept anything. Pretty funny when you look back on it though.

At least you were concious enough to do a reality check!

do this: pinch your self each time you think of any thing about dreaming do this in dreams too. each time you do it realy ask your self if your dreaming. realy think if something seems logical. if not you are dreaming also avoid talking with dream characters too long. this dose not mean you can't say I'm dreaming. and what ever you do, don't get too happy. just say I'm dreaming no big deal. remember to keep your eyes open.

I know what you mean, Nights. I read in some post, can't remember who's, where they wrote something on their hand (like "AWAKE" or "LUCID" or something like that), and that seemed to work better.

I don't know, something about numbers and letters work better than objects for RC's, because the brain really jumbles them in dreams.

      Help me out here, anyone?

Yeah, once I looked at my digital clock, looked away, and looked at it again to notice 3 hours had passed. The first time this happened, I accepted it! The second time, I did it a third time to realize I was dreaming.

I'm pretty sure even experienced LDers occationally except bizzare occurances as reality.

I have definately noticed that text is what cues me into a LD. Sometimes when I am trying to read something in a dream (90% of the time its a newspaper, dunno why) it ALWAYS seems upside down. I flip the paper, and its still upside down. I guess this has something to do with the fact that reading and dreaming involve different parts of the brain. I've noticed, in fact, that I can never read anything in my dreams. I can't even make out letters. I usually pass it off as nothing when a flying car goes by....but its one of my two main dream signs.
Its hard to dream recall when your starin' down the barrel of a loaded Thnikkaman.

I think it will be easier to observe that you are dreaming the more you perform reality checks in the dreams.
So just continue to perform RC's, and hopefully; they will work.
      Are you dreaming?

I have had that happen to me many times, I would do a RC and something wacky would happen and I would just accept it.

      Here's the deal:

I believe that everything is about awareness. When you perform a RC it is because of two reasons: 1. Your subconscious decided to include that in your dream because it reflects what you are doing/thinking about/desiring in the waking life. 2. You are already aware enough, to a certain extent, to recognize that it might be a dream.

Once the reality check works and you know it is in fact a dream, then join generally gain awareness due to the fact you know it isn't real. The more awareness you have the more real it feels and the more control(over yourself or over the setting) you have.

Therefore, a RC is only a tool to gain more self-awareness in your dream. If you weren't aware enough to begin with then you will just accept the fact that it is normal, whether you have been Lding for 2 years or 1 day...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
