I think you're still dreaming, you're just not remembering it.

      Welcome

Cusp is right, everyone dreams. Remembering our dreams is a different story. Try making a dream journal and waking up after each REM period. The REM is the Rapid Eye Movement stage where you have dreams.

      Hey, welcome!

Yep, you're definitely still dreaming. Stress in waking life can absolutely kill recall though because it stops being a priority.

When you wake up tomorrow morning, just jot down anything that you can possibly remember. It doesn't have to be a full dream; it can be an emotion, a fleeting thought... If all you remember seeing is blackness, write that down too. Very soon you should be making some progress!

Hi there and to the forum

Your questions have been pretty much answered by everyone above me, always remember that if you do remember a dream or just the tiniest details, write it down on a notepad, anything will help, then you can improve your dreaming and recall alot more. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask them

Sometimes I wonder if there are people who are literally incapable of remembering their dreams, or if they dream in a different way than most people, or at least most people here at DV. My BF claims to never remember a dream, and I believe him. I've woken him up when he is obviously in REM and asked "What were you dreaming about right now?!" and he has no idea.
Very, very rarely he has some vague idea of "monster" or something, but that's about it, and not even that very often.

So it sucks but it may be that some people really don't have "dreams" with stories and everything. Maybe they just have the physiologic components with out the mental involvement. Some nights it seems like my dreams are like that, just blackness rather than visions.

Not saying you are one of those, maybe you just don't have any recall. Hard to tell the difference I guess. And they're probably aren't too many people like that hanging around here, so I don't guess anyone who is having the same problem will share their experience with it.

Good luck and I hope you are able change things.

      me do that

i have not been active in my dreams for a long time or on this site But i like it so much how friendly everyone is here. its so rare that communities realize we are not so diffrent from one another, heh heh i never even had a firm grasp on my dreams before i fell away form remebering them. i habitually smoke cannabis though and after i am off it for about a week i get lots of it back from rem memories in the mornin, but what i started this to say was i think i try to do this almost more becuase the great community here than because my want to be lucid and beleive me i WANT IT.

AND of course Welcome to the Place, if u try u will succeed!

umm thanks for the welcome everyone
and i have only just woken up, and you say write down one thing i remember.....
well i dont remember a single thing, but for some reason i got a picture of a lil dog in a sink lol
a tiny white yorkshire terrier, but i always get random thoughts like that whenever im awake, like a purple monkey and a yellow dishwashed exterminating a cat, you think these are just dream recalls? or my wild imagination lol i got no idea...

actually writing that last bit... purple monkey yellow dishwasher.... i remember a waking dream moments before gettin out of bed, i was playing chinese whispers with a girl from abroad who i havnt spoken to for years, but i loved her n we just grew apart due to life i guess u guys are right, i do still dream, but i dont usually remember any of it, just blackness

When you go to bad, you have to think and be really confident about waking up after every dream you have. And I mean, really confident. You have to believe that you will, and then you will. Waking up straight after the dream will help a lot in remembering it.

You remembered part of a dream, so write that down! You're one step closer to lucidity.

Here's a tutorial on dream recall, you oughta find it usefull: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=6207

Just remember that everybody has the ability to LD, so never give up! It just takes practice. Good luck!

What you remembered was part of a dream, even if it is the tiniest of details always write it down because believe me it will help, sometimes you may find that if you write down the little detail you remember more details of the dream, it will be like a flashback, you'll just suddenly unlock the rest of the events that happened in the dream. Remember, even if it is the tiniest detail, write it down, every little bit of information helps, believe me

Yes I think it is more likely that you are having normal dreams and that you just need to do things to help with recall. Maybe if you can, you could set alarms to go off towards the end of the night, to wake you up occasionally during the most likely time that you will be in REM. Then without moving try to remember what you were dreaming about. Try to get into your conscious mind before you get up. Then immediately go write it down as soon as you can remember it.
