      Smile My first post

      Okay, here goes.
I'm interested in learning more about dreaming. I have some weird dreams, but no one to really talk to about them.
My dreams are fascinating, and I have them every night. I dont have nightmares anymore, but sometimes some scary things can sneak in. If its scary its probably a dinosaur. Go figure.
Common themes in my dreams are flying (in various ways and sometimes its hard to do) breathing under water, and being someone else.
Actually, I'm often someone else. I'm just as likely to be a boy as a girl, too. Somtimes I'm a group of people. Thats where there are several people who might be talking to each other, but I'm all of them, so I'm actually doing all parts of the conversation.
Some of my dreams are like movies. Cool things happen in those dreams. Sometimes my dreams repeat themselves. I dont mean recurring dreams, although I have some of those too, I mean my dream will go one way, then rewind to a certain point and then happen a different way, with me aware of what happened each way. Er... if that makes sense.
Sometimes my dreams take a long time. Like, several years will pass by in my dream, with me skipping to different interesting events along the way.
I'll quit there, and see what people say. ^_^

      Hey there Lethe and

Well its great that your interested in dreaming, your definately in the right place and you will find many members on here to discuss your dreams with. We have dreams every night, its whether we remember them that is the key factor. Nightmares seem to become less frequent as we get older, lol, that reminds me of when i was younger, i used to coward out and allow the dinosaurs to eat me

Can you actually control your dreams? When in your dreams are you aware that you are dreaming or do you just dream that you are flying?

Well i guess that the dream that you experienced seemed to have lasted 7 years but it is a trick of the mind, you would not have lived the entire 7 years, just to clear up that in dreams it is not possible to lengthen the amount of time you remain in the dream for whilst in the dream, especially not to lengths such as years, sorry, just cleaning that up because alot of members ask.

I think you seem very fascinated by your dreams and you seem to have a very good understanding already, i suggest you check the main page www.dreamviews.com and check out some of the information on Lucid Dreaming because this allows you to take charge of your dreams and do whatever you wish. You are then the master of your dreams and you can do anything Basically a lucid dream is a dream in which you are fully aware that you are within the dream state whilst still dreaming. Its very cool and can enhance your dreaming experience so much!

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask

Of course I know it didn't last years. ^_^ What I mean is the dream covers several years, with me just experiencing key points before jumping forward.
I'm almost always aware, but recently I've decided to not influence too much what happens, since my dreams are more interesting when I don't.
Sometimes I get irritated at the prople in my dreams and I tell them it doesn't matter what they do, because they aren't real and they cease to exist when I wake up.
I try not to do that often, though, because they tend to freak out.
I always fly, in my dreams. Sometimes its real flight, sometimes its just gliding after a high jump, sometimes I'm harding the air under my feet, and walking on it. Sometimes its so hard to get off the ground I have to kind of hook my hands into the air and swing along.
Only once did I turn into a bird, and speed through the air. That was really cool, but difficult to control.

Oooo... I remember what else I wanted to ask. The kids are always waking me up at night, but when I go back to sleep, I often just continue on with whatever dream I was having. Is this normal?

Most people don't do that... as far as I know.
But if you usually do that, you can use it to help you become lucid. While trying to go back to sleep, imagine yourself in the dream you were in before you woke up. Then imagine yourself RCing, and becoming lucid. Keep imagining this until you fall asleep. Then, if you continue the same dream, you should RC and become lucid

But I'm always lucid. I always know its a dream. Erm.. am I posting in the wrong spot? And if I go into the same dream, its an accident. Sort of. Usually its because I;m only kind of awake, and still thinking about the dream.

It is perfectly normal for you to resume the dream you just came out of, its a bit like pausing a film and getting a drink, its the same but you exit the dream, attend to the kids and then resume from where you left off, this can be really useful for inducing lucid dreams if it happens often, i suggest you maybe try it. You just have make sure it is clear in your mind that the next time you see the previous dream scenario you will be dreaming

Feel free to ask more questions

EDIT: Ah, your always aware it is a dream, thats even better, maybe you could try some funky activities in a further dream, maybe try summoning someone you know, even if you are lucid in most your dreams there is still plenty to learn about dreaming a lucid dreaming and control in general.

Ohh.. Neat. Never thought of summoning people. Although, I think thats why I'm always aware. I used to have nightmares as a kid, and my dad told me the next time it happened to call him into the dream an he'd beat up the monsters. (It was alligators. ^_^) I did and he did and it was good.
Also as a kid, I recall there was a girl I used to share dreams with. She lived far away, and she was almost always there. (Wherever it was, there were giraffs.) We did some fun things together. We used to try things like holding something in the dream, and try to bring it with us when we woke up.
Hmmm.. I'll have to think about this.

Seriously though, don't hesitate to try anything because you can literally do anything in a lucid dream, and since you are lucid in most your dreams it is safe to experiment and see what you can do and achieve, that way you can work on your dream recall. Let me say this again, You can do almost ANYTHING that you desire in a lucid dream, have a play around, bring in some actors, change the scenery, go back in time, meet the pope or whatever you desire. Have fun!

I hope you have fun with it But always remember that even though you have been aware that you are dreaming in previous dreams before you need to remember that control is a completely different thing, you may find it easy but take things slowly, don't run about excited because you will most likely wake. Just stay calm and examine your surroundings, wish things into existance. Enjoy yourself
