I cant do it no matter how hard i try.

No matter how hard I try, i cant controll my dreams, becuase everytime i am already in my dream, i forget that i want to controll, and not only that my dream is like a movie i cant controll it, it only moves forward not backward, as if my dreams are already planned out and i cant change them, i just need to let my mind take controll, i need help, when i am about to go to sleep i remind myself to controll my dreams, but then i dont go to sleep i stay awake, when i am not trying to controll my dream i quickly fall asleep. i need tips and advice how to overcome this

      Some tips..

      Hi.

Have you ever had any lucid dreams before and how well do you recall your dreams?

First you need to do "reality checks"(RC) when you`re awake.. These RCs is crucial to understand that you are dreaming. Even for natural lucid dreamers it is hard to reveal you are dreaming without doing RC during the day... There is a lot of information about how to do reality checks on this internet site...

      Good luck..

      I dont do reality checks. I have my own methods. Which are starting to work. {but i am planing to move to reality checks if they fail}
Till now i had three longer lucid dreams. And they seem to give you more controll than normal dreams. But....
How do you expect the dreams to be controlled, when you dont know them. You should first stabilize your senses. Build feeling for dream state. Build feeling for yourself in dream. Do it slowly and you will gradually make bigger journeys overtime.

I am also at the beginning of my journey, so cannot by as much of advice. But one is i know for sure, patience is the key to be on top and sometimes to try more less than more makes success.

From my own experiences and from what i heard, dreams are planned at some extent, even you plan them while being in a dream. But to achieve full controll takes practice. But you may try to prepare them while falling asleep. Its better to prepare them then to be excited, that you cannot controll them in a dream. It will come later.

      You're trying way too hard.
Give dream control a hiatus until you are ready to re-enter your quest for lucidity with a positive attitude and some methods which you think will suit you.
I don't want to hear any of this "I can't" talk.

      Stop thinking about it...

Trying so hard, and failing, will not help your "motivation"...

For now, work on getting your dream recall back. ( I haven't managed a single lucid dream either, but I can train my dream recall. )

Don't wake up in the morning fustrated that you didn't lucid, instead record your dream, and try to find the little "factors" that make you SURE it was a dream. ( These Dream signs. )

If you perform RC's ( or whatever people want to call them, ) throughout the day you will hopefully routinely do it in your dream, and the outcome will occur to you.

HOWEVER, some people take "RC's" for the sake of it, trying to attempt lucid... When you take a RC in Reality, TRY TO PULL THAT FINGER OFF, TRY TO BREATHE! Because if you expect that finger to stay on, you will expect it to stay on in the dream, and you will never see the obviousness that is the silliness of your finger coming off... ( "Pulling your finger" is one example only. )

I think, you should give it a rest for a while. It starts to be pretty intense to be natural.

Patience is a virtue. Don't expect that you'll be master of the dream world in two days. Take your time. Understand that it is a matter of practice and perseverance, and not mac-truck brute force.

It was a year and a half from the time when I started to try to LD, to the time when I had my first LD. That's not typical, but maybe it'll give you some perspective.

I recommend that you resolve your will and make a firm decision to go for the long haul. Be dedicated and persistent, but not impatient and insistent.

From what I've been told, from what I understand, it's about just letting loose. And letting your mind take controll. By instilling habbits in your waking life.

I also thought like that. but the suddenly in a dream i did a RC and found out that i was dreaming. you have to do RC. do a simple one like i did. just look at your hand, it it got more that 5 fingers, then are you dreaming. i don't know how proof that RC is but i worked for me. also make it to a habit, lite everytime you put on your shoes, taking the lift, get into a car and so on. Good Luck.
