      Hi Great site!

Hi, i'm a Cognitive pshychologist at York University, I studied there for 5 years and got my doctorship just over a month ago, One area i actively work in is cognitive pshychology and a sub section of that being dreams, so i am very interested in this site.

I have been looking for a forum dedicated to this kind of discussion and i think i may have found it.

      Many Thanks.

      Hey, welcome DreamCatcher!

Sounds like a great profession. Do you do any lucid dreaming yourself?

      Hurrah! Welcome to the boards!

Some people in my field of profession!

I have studied intently into cognition as well, but have no received any degree as of yet. I am also not far from Toronto and have several friends at the York University. Which professors have you studied under?

Have you conducted any cognitive experiments yourself? If so, I'd like to discuss in another thread perhaps.

Do you agree with me that cognition is one of the greates implications to dreaming? It just seems so obviously correc that I feel silly asking.

      Again, Welcome!

      ~

Lucid dreaming is a very interesting topic, what exactly triggers your mind to become aware of the fact your having a dream, what cognition takes place which triggers you to be aware but stops you becoming totally awake? Often this realization is triggered by the dreamer noticing some impossible or unlikely occurrence in the dream, such as flying or meeting the deceased

Welcome Dream Catcher. As you have noted the people who logon here are very friendly. My time online here has been great.

I'm curious about the thesis topic you had for your doctoral studies at York. Would I be correct in thinking it pertained to dreaming and its relation to cognition or was it something unrelated? I've only dabbled in psychology myself as the psychology undergraduate degree program was not what I was looking for at the time. It was long series of introductory courses, my favorite area was abnormal psychology. Though I would love to learn more about human cognition.
