Lucid Dreamer for nearly 25 years

Hello. I found this web site today when searching on Google for anyone else who thinks lucid dreaming might be related to deja vu. I found such a post under one of the forums here, and in doing so, also found this awesome site. I used to post a bit on alt.dreams.lucid back around 94-97, but it seems to have gone down hill these days.

Anyway, I didn't discover the name Lucid Dreaming until I was a teenager. Prior to that, I had had many dreams in which I had become aware that I was dreaming, and initially I used that knowledge to go flying, as most people tend to. I remember such dreams from 5 years of age. It wasn't until I was 10-13 years of age that I started trying out other things, like walking on water, walking on the ceiling, breathing under water, moving objects with my mind, making objects appear, anything I could think of that was cool really, and sometimes just sitting back and watching what was happening around me. I mentioned these dreams to a friend of mine, and not long after that he said he had seen something on TV about Lucid Dreaming (this is before the Internet came out by the way). I then knew what the name for it was and went to my local library, where I got out Stephen Laberge's 1985 book on the subject, and from there I just went crazy on the subject. I kept a dream journal for about 4 years after that and had a number of lucid dreams during that time.

So I'm not really a newbie as far as lucid dreaming goes, but I am a newbie to this site.

Oh, and I noticed that your record for most number of users ever online was set on my birthday this year.

"Most users ever online was 49 on Sat Jun 05, 2004 5:22 pm"

      Kinda freaky...

      Hey Dream Seal,

      Welcome to the site!
Its a great community-feel specialist forum... helps me a lot at least...

Seems like you have some good experience behind you - have any particular tricks you've discovered?

About the birthday - that is a little freaky - hehe

If you have any questions, or need some interactions, feel free to PM or MSN me (or any other 'dream guide' - the green coloured guys)

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I seem to have been tied up in discussions about deja vu the first day I've been on here, both in forums and in private. Is there a similar site dedicated to deja vu by the way? Like 'Deja Views' or something like that?

Regarding lucid dreaming tips, I think there is really two main areas people would want tips in. One would be in trying to have more lucid dreams. The other would be in what to do in lucid dreams and how to retain lucidity. I probably have a few things to say about both of these. If anyone has any specific questions, let me know.

      Those are broad subjects.
My first suggestion is reading the tutorials for attaining more lucid dreams.
Or if you already have, work on them some more.

My second suggestion about 'what to do' - read the experience checklist under the 'General' section. Its got lots of ideas - some stupid, some good.

My suggestion about 'how to retain lucidity' - the main methods involve spinning around, running your hands down rough surfaces, looking at your hands + surrounds + back again, and trying to cause an FA.
