      Lucid Dream Induction

      Hi

I am quite new to the lucid dreaming technique and would greatly appreciate any help I could possibly get on the subject.

I do however have a special interest in the induction of lucid dreaming. The reason I am so keen to induce lucid dreaming rather than "simply let it happen" is as follows:

      1. I perform regular "reality checks" during the day, but always fail to do them while dreaming.

      2. I have tried to do some wake induced lucid dreaming, but only succeeded in keeping myself awake for the better part of the night.

      3. As a beginner I do feel that a little "cheating" might just help me for the first few times; a push in the right direction, if you would.

Like I said before, I am still a beginner, and as such, I do believe that I will be able to succeed where I have failed thus far once I gained a bit of experience. That being said, I was hoping that someone would be so kind as to tell me where I can download a free audio track to induce lucidity whilst dreaming.

      Thank you kindly

      JP

      Welcome to Dream Views, JP10.

Do you have good dream recall? Make sure you have some sort of dream journal. It will help you remember more dreams, and improve the vividness of your memory.

It sounds like you are off to a good start. I would suggest trying to incorporate Wake Back To Bed (WBTB) into your sleep schedule. Check out the tutorial for it here:

You don't have to stay up too long. Just long enough to get your brain to turn back on. I think it is the best thing you can do to improve your chances of scoring a lucid.

When you try your WILDs, do you do them in the middle of the night? Its best to do them after a WBTB. WILD is different for everyone. It takes a lot of practice to get all the details right and figure out the exact combination of things that works for you. Don't be afraid to try out new WILD techniques, and don't get frustrated.

doing RC's throughout the day doesnt get u to automatically do them in a dream. I had experienced my first total DILD last night, and it was when i noticed something strange. i imediatly knew to do an RC, which confrirmed i was dreaming. once you get that feeling of awerness in a dream, thats when u do the RC.

What u NEED to do is be way more observant during the day, take in all visual information. learn whats 'real' and whats not.

this may sound creepy, but look at your body every night. this is because your body doesnt just change overnight. its like a constant, except in a dream, u will most likely have something wrong with your body, then BOOM! do an RC
      | DILD= 5 | DEILD= 2 | MILD= 4 | WILD= 5 |

Thank you so much for the help. I have not tried to do wake induced lucid dreaming again, but I actually did a reality check last night. It went something like this:

In the dream I had, I found myself talking to some random people, when all of a sudden I turned around and there, in front of me, was a huge stack of hay (at least I think it was hay). I remember thinking to myself "well this can't be real, I should do a reality check."

I did the reality check, and realized that I was dreaming, but that did not seem to change anything. I could not control my dream in the slightest way.

Furthermore, the dream did not seem all that vivid, I could not, for instance, see people's faces.

So naturally my next questions would be:

      a) How do I control my dreams, and
      b) how can I make them more vivid?

I will try the wake induced lucid dreaming method again in a few weeks time, not because I do not have faith in it, but because I do not want to upset my sleeping pattern at the moment. My first semester’s examination is upon me so naturally I want to keep to my current schedule as much as possible for the time being.

      My sincerest gratitude to everyone.

      JP
