i have a few small questions

hey, this is my first post !

anyway, i read the tutorial and im still a little hazed as to what exactly to do.
      summary perhaps?

what are lucid dreams like? cause when i think of normal dreams i've had, they are usually fuzzy, like watching it through an old school tv. are lucid dreams vivid? do they seem like real life only, in the dream world.

how long does it take to get the hang of it? i am really curious into having one, but im scared of the whole sleep paralysis thing, where your awake but you cant move anything. and im not sure how to do it, because i remember reading that you have to wait for your body to fall asleep, but how do i do that?? just like, pretend your going to sleep, only keep your mind alert?

my questions are probably not as clear as the could be, but bare with me haha, thanks in advance !

      cheers

Just like regular dreams, lucid dreams can be vivid or fuzzy. I've had some lucids that were more vivid than real life, and I've had some that are so murky I can barely see or move. There are tricks to increase your dream vividness. The cool part about a lucid dream is, you realize its a dream, you realize its not very vivid, so you can actively try to make it more vivid. Pretty cool to be able to yell out "Clarity" and watch the world around you snap into focus.

There are different levels of lucid dreams. It can be anything from realizing its a dream and waking up, to actively and consciously constructing an entire world around you. As long as you are aware it is a dream, you can count it as a lucid dream.

Some people become lucid after first hearing about Lucid Dreaming, and some try for months to get their first one. It totally depends on the individual.

Don't be afraid of sleep paralysis. It is a very freaky ride when it hits you, but you can easily learn to control it, ride it out to a lucid dream, or wake up from it. There are a ton of lucid dreaming techniques that avoid sleep paralysis entirely.

You may want to read the quick start tutorial

or the whole tutorial section in general

A great way to figure out what makes a lucid dream different from a regular dream, is to read descriptions of people's lucid dreams. Don't hesitate to look through the Dream Journal section.

      or the lucid experiences section:

Also, many members include their dream journals in their signatures. A lot of people color code their lucid dreams, so you can easily pick them out. (Now I feel stupid for not doing this in my DJ)
