      New to forums

Well obviously im new to these forums. but im curious as to whether my frequency of lucidity is common and possible causes for this. i can achieve lucidity about half of the times i try which is nearly everynight. i believe im using the wild method although im not sure because i dont start after waking up. i do it at the start of going to sleep, and it works for me. work for anyone else or am i alone in this aspect?

      First off, welcome to DV.

Could you try to elaborate a little more please? I'm not sure I understand.

Ah, I see. (I'm tired and I need to go to bed...)

Well, from the way I see it, about you level of lucidity, your a natural!!! But that's just me.

About your Lucid from wakefulness, yes, you are doing a WILD, although you're one of the first members I've seen that doesn't need to sleep for 5-6 hours beforehand.

      Sounds cool to me.

It doesn't sound common at all and I wish I had your gift!

As far as I know this is a fairly unique ability. Most people who WILD regularly wake up in the middle of the night or nap to do it. It also defies theories about dreaming and sleep cycles because you shouldn't be entering REM right when you fall asleep and you shouldn't be having vivid dreams in non-REM. But you are doing one of those, which is awesome!

Sometimes I do WILD immediately when I go to sleep like you're describing, but not nearly as frequently as you do. And my WILDs may be caused predominately, if not exclusively by sleep deprivation, which causes people to experience REM immediately after falling asleep. If you're chronically sleep deprived then this may be the case with you too.

Do you have lucid dreams even when you don't try to WILD? What sort of meditation / technique do you use to induce them? I mean, specifically, what do you think about during your WILD?

Your technique seems so reliable. I want to try it

my DILD to WILD ration is quite low, but that may stem from WILDing so often. Meditation-wise i use my ipod i have calming music no words and set a sleep timer. i relax physically first concentrating on relaxing every part of my body starting at my toes and work my way up. once that is accomplished i just let my mind wander (which it is wont to do anyways) i think about whatever comes in but i dont really think about the thoughts i just acknowledge that they are there and let them pass, usually after like 20 minutes that is done and thats basically my meditation, sometimes i stay drifting for a while after the thoughts stop but usually not for too long. having cleared my mind of all random thoughts i just lay still and wait for SP and after that basically just concentrate on LDing and it happens. while actually in the LD the thinking process varies depending on what i do. although one part remains constant and that is just remembering that it is a dream, which serves to sustain control. i often write while LDing which may seem boring but i dont have much time during the day to do so and writing during sleep takes care of that.

Do you do this meditation at the beginning of the night? Or after a few hours of sleep? Like most people, I have a hard time entering a dream early in the night. Do you enter directly into a dream scene with some weird transitions? Or do you just appear in a dream, after a possible lapse in consciousness?

i meditate usually half hour b4 i go to bed. as to weird transitions, not really but i feel like im falling, then i end up on a grassy hill. Thats how it always is. I would assume it is possible that i lose consciousness but i dont think so

Interesting. Normally, people's sleep cycles don't enter REM until an hour or two into the night. Even then, its normally a brief dreamlet. Your dreams get longer as the night progresses, and the deep sleep periods between the dream cycles get shorter. Have you ever tried doing the same meditation after 5 hours of sleep? You may get a more vivid and longer dream.

Are you sleep deprived? Do you nap a lot? Maybe you just naturally enter REM early.

Sleep deprived, maybe, but i generally only sleep 2-4 hours a night and it works for me. I dont nap. Ive never tried meditating after 5 hours because its been years since ive slept that long. I'll keep that in mind next time i do sleep for such a length and see if it changes anything
