Welcome to the forum! What you're experiencing is called H.I. and it stands for Hypnagogic Imagery. It goes insane when you go into Sleep Paralysis, and there's a lucid dreaming induction method for it here - Click

If you're curious about Sleep Paralysis, the basics of it is that when you stay still for ages, your body numbs and you can't move it, if you're in a good amount of darkness, you'll get quite a lot of Hypnagogic Imagery, I recommend you watch it when it comes, quite fun by what people say on this forum about it. maybe you should search the internet and see if anything will help you. but i kinda went through were you rubbing your eyes before?

well thats normal from what ive experienced and from what ive read others experienced, for me the images/colors are kinda distracting so i focus more on the black behind them, which works for me as well as for many others, but it really depends on you cuz for some ppl focusing on them helps them

You should do a google search on "Image Streaming". It sounds like what you are describing.

I've never really tried it the way it is described, but I've done similar types of meditations. I know a lot of people who swear by it.

Sounds like Image streaming, to me (what Robot Butler mentioned).

I'm not too familiar with it, but I've heard about it.

Is this while you're drifting off to sleep or just at random times during the day? If it's while you're drifting off to sleep I would guess it's H.I. which a lot of people get (including myself).

If it's at random times during the day I guess it must be that image streaming thing.

I Know What You're Talking About, I Close My Eyes And See Like Colors And Quick Images. I Think If You Focus On Them You Can Have LD's, Because As A Kid I Would Sleep With My Eyes Open Because I Was Terrified Of The Dark So I Would Keep Them Open And Look Around To Keep Watch For "Monsters" But My Vision Would Go To These Glow In The Dark Stars And I Would Just Watch Them Until My Brain Said "Okay It's Sleepy Time If You Want To Or Not" And I Would Have Lucid Dreams Just Like When I Watch Those Random Colors.

I'd say it's Hypnagogic imagery like some others said. I have heard about image streaming, but I guess that's some kind of method/technique for improving whatever. I've had this douring the day and night for as long as I can remember. I hope there is some kind of professional name for it, since I want to know what it is or how common "seeing images" actually is.

Thanks so much, i'll look into the HI thing because it is def when i'm sleepy or before i go to sleep. doesn't just start happening in the middle of the day (unless i've got my head o my desk).

I wonder if its somehow connected. Like the visual center of your brain is overactive?

Hey I've got the same thing, like parts of sentences that I heard that day or have never heard before and don't make sense, colours and images and everything just rushing around in my head. Although I don't really mind it, if I let it take me away I will fall asleep (it feels like a transition between being sleepy but awake and sleeping)

when I'm in the right state of mind for this, I can usually just make up a dream and start lucid dreaming as well.

oh and I sometimes get it when I'm awake too (I suddenly see ants crawling or something like that)
