Always reaching the same dead end!!

I've been trying to WILD for about a month now, since when I was trying different techniques earlier I entered SP while WILDing but unfortunately I didn't know that I was in SP and so I blew it.

Anyway, now when I try again after a WBTB I always reach to the point where I begin to enter SP and my legs start to feel numb and heavy, but ALWAYS after that I drift to sleep. I tried to concentrate harder not to fall to sleep again but I always fail. What's going wrong?

Try counting backwards. That seems to work for me.

good to see someone asking questions lol. The typical answer for someone with your problem is

      a) possibly try staying up for a little longer when you WBTB. (some people go right back to sleep, some say wait like 45-60mins) You could adjust it little by little until you get it right

      or maybe

      b) try a different WILD technique. Some need more/less concentration etc you may find a different one works better for you.

      Hope these help you.

I tried going to the bathroom then sleeping right away and I tried staying up for like 45 minutes then sleeping and the same thing happened. I think I'll try a new method then, but I don't have any experiences in any other methods though.

BTW, what could be a good technique to try for someone who wakes up a lot during the night?

Oh, and nice sig btw, James, im a Jessica Alba fan too lol!

      Thanks!

How many hours are you sleep before the WILD too? the 'standard amount' is 5-6. Any less, and maybe you are soo tired you just fall asleep. (But some people WILD with as little as 3)

By other methods; I mean other WILD methods. Some say concentrate on nothing, some say visual a scene, others say count, some say create 'tactile sensations'. Theres so many WILD techniques in this place. Have a look around till you find one that looks good.

Theres atleast 5 WILDs in here alone: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=25

      Goodluck!

      Try this, my friend:
When you are deeply relaxed, but before you fall asleep, visualize bright white light shining out of your third eye while imaging the sound "AAAhhh". A as in fAther. Just be utterly relaxed and do this and it will increase your awareness. You see, when you fall asleep your consciousness falls into the heart chakra and then to the solar plexus and secret chakra. The sound Ah activates the space element of awareness. You will know when your body is asleep when all the four elements have dissolved into the space element in your third eye and you can no longer feel your body. Once your awareness is free from your body you can relax your vigilance and let your mind fly like a kite. You can let it drift on the verge of sleep but always keep hold of the kitestring of awareness. Dabble with daydreaming, but be alert so you don't fall asleep. Yet keep a passive attitude towards any phenomena you experience. Good luck!

i have found that if i meditate while trying to WILD i can reach SP easier and that the urge to move isn't as overpowering. it doesnt help me when i'm really tired though, i still fall asleep or move invoulentarilly. i just meditate for like 15 minutes or so and i'm there.
the part i get hung up on is taking the step into dreaming.

i use NSR (natural stress relief) technique, but just about any mantra style meditation should work the same. the folks at the NSR website will charge you $50 to learn it but it is a comprable technique to trancendental meditation and thoes folks want $2500 to teach you.

search for mantra meditation techniques, chanting meditation or the like. third eye meditation is fun (but gives me a headache sometimes), i also used to like death meditation... it is good if you can VIVIDALLY imagine things... like close your eyes and imagine cutting up an apply or a kiwi, imagine the feel, the smell and the textures, imagine you are taking a bite of it, try to taste it... if your mouth is watering right now you can do death meditation. just do a google search for these if you want and you should find some free instructions.
