      Having Doubts

First, a quick introduction - I found this site several years ago, although I honestly can't remember how or why. Regardless, I read a lot of the main content about lucid dreaming, and tried to start a dream journal. I never had the patience or willpower to do things long-term, and shortly thereafter I stopped recording dreams and this site was lost somewhere probably near the back of my memory.

Until this morning, when I had a lucid dream for what I can only remember as the second time in my entire life, and, for the first time, I was able to change a few things. Sure, all I could do was change the style of a few buildings, but that's more than what I've done before, and I suppose you have to start somewhere.

However, now, being awake, I'm having a few small doubts about whether I did actually lucid dream. Is it possible to dream about having a lucid dream, without having one in the process? Or maybe I'm just over-thinking the whole thing and I just should accept the fact I probably did lucid dream.

It is possible to dream that your having a lucid dream but I just think you're over thinking it and that you actually did have a lucid dream, normally if your recall is messed up it may seem as if you merely had a dream about an LD as you won't remember much about it...

Well back and I hope you stay longer here then you did last time

you can dream that you had a Lucid dream, and wake up in the dream with false awakening to know that you acctually dreamt that it was a dream. But the dream is just as a normal lucid dream if you dream that you have a lucid dream.
      Good luck.

If you knew it was a dream, you were lucid. There are levels of lucidity. Sometimes you can know it is a dream, but not fully realize what that means.

The best way to find out, is to have lots more, and compare them all.

      Congrats, and welcome to DV.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I guess I was just overthinking it. As a quick question, is it normal only to remember what I see in dreams? I've never remembered smells, sounds, tastes, or any other senses - do they not occur in my dreams, or am I just not remembering them? (As an exception, I know I felt pain in a dream this morning, though I can't actually remember how it felt).

Also, another question - I seem to remember quite a few dreams some nights, but only very small parts of them. Out of all the dreams I know I've had, all but one are very short (30 - 60 seconds maximum). Does this mean anything? Am I not sleeping well enough?

Unfortunately, this post has broken the pattern of posts in this thread. What the hell am I on about? Check the post count of each poster

      Thanks for the welcomes !
