First step of having lucid dreams?

I rarely remember my dreams or dream at all, but since I've heard of lucid dreaming, I've been having at least one dream a night or a series of dreams... Would this be the first step to having a lucid dream?... The only thing I have trouble with is being aware in my dreams but I doubt I'll have a problem with that

Yes it is One of the most important steps is to start off with a good dream recall, so you're deffinately in the right direction^^ From there you can eventually experience with different techniques etc.

Being aware in your dreams IS lucid dreaming. You're right, though, the first step to having a lucid dream is being able to remember your dreams. Otherwise, how will you know when you've had one? Here are some helpful tips to remembering dreams:
      1. Being in a forum is a great first step. Discussing and thinking about dreams on a daily basis helps to remember them.
      2. Keep a dream journal. This shows your subconscious that remembering your dreams is important to you. Keep it near your bed. When you wake, write whatever you can remember as soon as you wake up. Don't even get out of bed before you begin writing. Even if all you remember is a flash of color or a sound - wright it down - more will come to you later.
      3. Keep your thoughts clear as you fall asleep. Hold the intention to remember your dreams clear in your mind.
      Hope this helps!

Getting your recall up is definitely the first step to a lucid dream. You need to be familiar with what dreams feel like to be able to notice that you are dreaming. Also, keep in mind that Lucid dreams are not necessarily easier to remember than regular dreams. If you don't remember your dreams, you won't remember your lucids either.

I think the most effective thing you can do to increase your chances is perform a Wake Back To Bed. Get out of bed after a few hours of sleep (around 4 or 5), think about dreaming for a few minutes, go to the bathroom, get a midnight snack, read a few DV posts, ect. Get back in bed, and fall back to sleep with dreaming on your mind.

This would also be the time to perform a WILD or MILD meditation if you chose. Lots of people get lucid from WBTB even without WILD.
