A1: If you were completely aware that you were in fact dreaming, then yes, that does count as a lucid dream.

See Dream Control for extra help on controlling your dreams.

A2: Yes, I do find that if I try to do too much before settling myself in the dream, then I will awaken. Try to take time to stabilize the dream before rushing into things.

(Also see Dream Control for this)

      It's strange though
It's almost as if my conscious is unaware that I am dreaming. I don't know how to explain this other than that the speaking/thinking part of my brain is unaware that I am dreaming but the imagery/abstract portion of my brain is completely aware. The part of my brain that is aware, is able to think/rationalize but in a completely silent manner.

Yes, very strange. I dont know if I can really help you on this b/c I rarely have DILDs (Dream Induced Lucid Dreams) like you have, I usually WILD (wake induced lucid dream) so I usuallly %100 conscious/aware.

My dreams are totally opposite from yours. It seems like my dreams are full control of what i do. I cant distinguished objects good or focus on anything-my mind just goes wild. I would describe my dreams more like a movie playing out.

BetweenTheBuriedAndMe - I have a similar thing can control myself but not the surroundings; like last night I was being chased around loads of places and it was almost like a game I was playing with myself - I had the advantage that I could run through walls though! Awesome fun! I have to say while I was running i was trying to influence the area though; and it seemed to work in small ways as in not actually what I wanted but something similar or related
