      2 Lucid Dream Questions

      Question one:
I'm pretty much always cognizant in my dreams: I can think/talk normally; my values are the same; I'm pretty much the same person in my dreams as in real life.
If there's something in my dream (whatever that may be) I simply change the object or scenario. Usually I end up changing my dream simply because it's boring (however, if the dreams interesting, I simply take a back seat and roll with it). Even though I maintain near absolute control over my regular dreams, it's more like my consciousness is presiding over(couldn't think of a better way to describe that) my dream. My person within the dream is unaware of the fact that it's a dream and my true(waking) consciousness is observing.
Question: Does this count as a lucid dream?

Rarely I'll have a dream where I have absolutely no control. Those dreams are frequently very odd, surreal, or unsettling (they're also always very vivid).

      Question #2:
Does anyone else find that if they change too much within the dream, they wake up(or the dream loses coherency)?

      Edit:

      Btw, hello everyone
I joined the forums because of a strange dream I had a month or so ago.

Hey there; I have a similar sort of thing; most of the time I'm aware I'm dreaming (almost every night) but most of the tim I can't really be bothered to change the dream (I'm pretty lazy) and most of the time I can control myself to a degree but not the surroundings - luckily I've gotten used to being able to give myself powers which give me a certain amount of free will.

For instance I'll be walking down the street and decide to just jump the rest of the way or move cars with my mind for the fun of it. So yeah I'd say similar?

A1: If you were completely aware that you were in fact dreaming, then yes, that does count as a lucid dream.

See Dream Control for extra help on controlling your dreams.

A2: Yes, I do find that if I try to do too much before settling myself in the dream, then I will awaken. Try to take time to stabilize the dream before rushing into things.

(Also see Dream Control for this)

      I'm pretty much the opposite : p
I can easily change my surrounding, however, I have very limited control over myself(I can't simply think: "I want to fly," and take off). What I can do is create objects through which I can do those sort of things (jetpack, gun, sword, car, etc).

Also, when I change things it's not like throwing things/creating objects with my mind, it's more like I briefly hit the pause button and when my dream resumes the objects are present.

      Edit:

Oh yeah sorry I totally mis-read what you wrote lol. Sorry past midnight - I'm going to bed now night all.

But yeah maybe we just have opposite minds we should compare notes; come up with a method for total lucid dream kickassery.

      It's strange though
It's almost as if my conscious is unaware that I am dreaming. I don't know how to explain this other than that the speaking/thinking part of my brain is unaware that I am dreaming but the imagery/abstract portion of my brain is completely aware. The part of my brain that is aware, is able to think/rationalize but in a completely silent manner.

Yes, very strange. I dont know if I can really help you on this b/c I rarely have DILDs (Dream Induced Lucid Dreams) like you have, I usually WILD (wake induced lucid dream) so I usuallly %100 conscious/aware.

My dreams are totally opposite from yours. It seems like my dreams are full control of what i do. I cant distinguished objects good or focus on anything-my mind just goes wild. I would describe my dreams more like a movie playing out.

BetweenTheBuriedAndMe - I have a similar thing can control myself but not the surroundings; like last night I was being chased around loads of places and it was almost like a game I was playing with myself - I had the advantage that I could run through walls though! Awesome fun! I have to say while I was running i was trying to influence the area though; and it seemed to work in small ways as in not actually what I wanted but something similar or related
