dont move..... your body is testing your mind it is all a figment of your imagination i get this everytime i try a WILD also...it is incredibly frustrating but so worth it once you have a WILD |

Hey. This has been happening every time I try to do a WILD this past week. I settle down, sometimes listen to binaural beats, and start relaxing until my body feels heavy and i can hardly move it. As I relax more and more and do concentration excersizes, I get this feeling that I just HAVE to move. It feels almost like a surge of energy, and its such a strong feeling that I just have to give in and move. I have no clue what the problem is, maybe I need to ground myself to get rid of excess energy, or maybe I have some type of problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated |

ah wow, i didnt think anyone had the same problem |

Agh, I know exactly what you mean. >.< I think reesespieces is right, though. I just never make it through the surge, my longest effort was somewhere around 30 seconds and I gave up because it is SO uncomfortable. |

"Old Hag Syndrome" sometimes referred to as "Night Hag" is another commonly used term for SP among many different cultures mainly in the western world. The term Old Hag is probably derived from a couple of sources, one being the word for Nightmare; Night -of course, we know this already, Mare being derived from the old English term Maere meaning demon or incubus (an incubus is believed to be a demon that visits during the night). Other sources as listed by Dr. J. A. Cheyne, University of Waterloo Psych. Dept include German mar/mare, nachtmahr, Hexendrücken (witch pressing), Alpdruck (efl pressure), Czech muera, Polish zmora, Russian Kikimora, French cauchmar (trampling ogre), Greek ephialtes (one who leaps upon) and mora (the night "mare" or monster, ogre, spirit, etc.), Roman incubus (one who presses or crushes) ge, (evil spirit or the night-mare--also hegge, haegtesse, haehtisse, haegte); Old Norse mara, Old Irish mar/more. Gah! That's what makes me NOT want to try a WILD. SP, and the sensation that you get that basically screams 'MOVE YOUR DAMN BODY! NOW!" I get scared kind of easily, well, maybe just super paranoid. So if I opened my eyes to see some demon, I'd have a heart-attack in my sleep. Hah. It's hard to resist that urge to move. I just try to think about something, and try to take my mind off that feeling. Like my Nana, french onion soup, swimming at the beach, or I just think to myself "If you move your body, you will never get to eat french onion soup again!" I know it sounds silly, but it can work. You just have to focus your mind on something else, and just forget that feeling. It's like learning to play soft-ball. There's a lot of things that hold you back. Maybe you're not good at batting, horrible at being in the out-field, or just the fact that people are watching you play, so you get nervous. you have to push through it, and practice! Practice makes perfect! xP. That sounds so corny! (: |

wow, thats really funny you mention that in my thread. Last night as I was listening to the gateway experience I believe I entered SP - i could hardly feel my body and i felt extremely relaxed - i didn't want to try to move and test the SP because I was afraid I'd ruin it all of a sudden I feel this major pressure on my chest, and I thought my dog was sitting on me. I remembered that you can see some crazy sh** in SP so i decided to open my eyes... thank god, i dont wanna see an old lady on top of me in the middle of the night |

Try stretching, it could be that your muscles are tight and when muscles are tight they ache. |
