hey guys

i joined dream views because i've always been very curious about very odd experiences - today ive been pretty much drowning in boredom when i stumbled upon this site. I've thought about lucid dreams before, however I thought maybe it would be a bit too much work to get into, and it wouldn't be worth it.

Today however, I've convinced myself that I really want to try to get into lucid dreaming, and i guess "try" to have one tonight. I know I'm most likely not going to have one anytime soon, and that it will probably take a lot of effort and motivation to do so, I am prepared for this. I have already set up some paper, a pen, and a clock alarm set up 6 AM. I've been trying to read a lot of articles, stickies, whatever I could find to gain more information on lucid dreaming, however because I've been doing this i've developed a couple of questions:

1. Could lucid dreaming be considered as intense or interesting as an escape of reality?

Basically, I'm wanting to know what it's like to be lucidly dreaming or what it is like have a lucid dream experience. Is it as cool as "Wow!, im dreaming! I can do whatever I want!" or just something as plain as consciousness in a dream, but still barely any control over anything that is happening

2. What exactly is the conflict upon trying to lucid dream?

Is this because you simply forget about the whole idea when you try to go to sleep? I would really like to know the answer to this question because I want to get over any of the biggest conflicts as soon as possible.

3. Does the use of cannabis affect lucid dreaming?

should be pretty obvious as to why i ask this

4. What are some essential things I should know when beginning to start?

I don't want to go in a completely wrong direction, any advice or tips would be great

thanks a lot for reading, hopefully some replies can help me gain perspective of lucid dreaming, and i might gain an experience soon !
