      First time method: DILD, DEILD or WILD?

      As i was looking through the tutorials and generally thinking about lucid dreaming i came to the conclusion that it is probably easier to lucid dream once you already know what it feels like to become lucid (i.e. recognise a dream sign and your reality check prove you to be dreaming).
      So what is the easiest way to become lucid for a first timer so then they can move on to thier prefered method once they have a feel for being lucid.

      it would be nice to hear feed back of other peoples first induced lucid dream methods.
      Obviously point out if my reasoning is incorrect please

      I am a natural lucid dreamer, so I have tried only one method other than it just occuring while I sleep. Dreams are often a reflection of what happened that day. The more exciting or new the experience is, the better the dream will be. The better the dream, the more likely it is you can spot a dream sign. The only way I have tried other than that is my alarm clock. I set it to the absolute lowest setting and set it to 4:30 AM. I am such a light sleeper, even the lowest setting wakes me up though

      Also, I don't know what all of the ILD's stand for yet. What does DILD and DEILD stand for?

      Well, many newbs start with WILD, which tends to be one of the hardest techniques (there may be exceptions)
      And DILD, which even tough doesn't give lucids with the same quality (also may differ) tends to be easier to achive.
      DEILD is like a medium, not so hard, but not so easy.
      Also, WBTB + MILD tends to work really good for some people and apparently is easier than DILD.

      @oniman7

      DILD=Dream Initiated Lucid Dream
      DEILD=Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream.

      Correct me if I'm wrong lol

      My first lucid dreams were all DILD and MILDs. I very rarely WILD, it's time consuming and annoying sometimes.

      Well, first of all, there is no easy way to induce a Lucid Dream; all LD methods take time, patience, and effort. Of course, that isn't meant to be a turn off. You might be able to have one faster than other new LDer's. In addition, you might be better suited for DEILDs than DILDs, WILDs, etc. You never know until you try them out.

      It's best to stick with a method for a certain period of time until you're sure it is or isn't for you.

      I've had ~64 lucids and I've only managed to WILD 3 times in the past 5 years. Some people get it on the first try. To me, dream journaling, determining dream signs, and reality checking seems like the most fool-proof way to learn to lucid dream. I prefer to go that route, especially as attempting WILDs night after night can be a bummer if you don't get any success. Plus, if you get into the habit of reality checking, you can also catch false awakenings. So even if you do WILD, and you wake up, you should still RC so you catch the dreams!

      I agree that for most people there is no "easy" way to induce LDs. Each person is different, so it is impossible to guess which method might be easiest for you. However, like Shift said, I agree that for most noobies keeping a dream journal, doing RCs, and figuring out dream signs is usually the most effective way to become lucid at first. I'd add that you may also want to use some autosuggestion. Basically just tell yourself "I will realize I am dreaming in my dreams" or something similar over and over throughout the day and before you go to bed.

      Get a marker and write the letters RC on your hand. Do a reality check every time that you see it. Starting out you have to be fanatical about doing reality checks, you can ease off once you get more experienced. I started out doing a hundred a day, now I maybe do one.

      Thanks a lot for all your advise i think ill stick with what i was doing and carry on RCing and noting my dreams to build up my dream sign database ill also add auto suggestion to my routine, and step up my RCing 10 fold.

      DILD itīs the best to start, gives you the some notions about how a beeing lucid is, itīs always good to get used to the "Lucid Feeling", and SP is not a problem.

      WILD itīs hard, but i believe after you found your right Wild method (and are a lot to choose) things became easier; in my case, i donīt see great necessity of dominating this, i think DEild is much better.

      DEIld itīs hard too, although, if you have a 5 seconds playing alarm this became ultra-efective, the most powerful indeed !
