Question Sleeping in class. VERY strange I think. Could be wrong.

(After I finished typing this I wasn't sure if this was the place I needed to put it in. I'll just move it to another category if it doesn't get the replies I'm looking for.)

Hello! I've just found this site today because I was wondering why I never remember dreams anymore. I can't remember the last one I could actually remember lol. But that is actually off-topic but I had the thought so I had to type it.

I have a question and I am VERY interested to know if this is abnormal or if someone has an explanation that is more than a personal theory. Of course I'll have no problem with your personal theory as long as you have some kind of facts to back it up slightly. lol.

When I go to my first hour and sometimes in my second I sleep generally the whole time especially while the the teacher is teaching. While I would sleep I would sometimes dream. Several times while in one of these dreams, the people in them were people also in my class. Most of the time I couldn't see them. Nothing is ever vivid but I have general knowledge of who's there and what's going on. In the one I best remember, Which occurred around 3 times that I can remember, the class was playing poker. I barely knew anybody in the class but one of the guys I knew best (which isn't saying much. I barely knew him lol) was the dealer. Here comes the weird part. While we are playing poker in this japanese looking casino, I can hear what people are saying in the actual classroom. This includes the teacher as well. It would affect my the thought process I had in the dreams and I think it even affected my actions and the actions of the character representations of my classmates. Also, irrelevantly, there were 3 escalators behind behind me. Two going down with one going up in between them. I couldn't get on them even know I wanted to in the first dreams but in the last one of this instance that I can remember I went up the middle one. I can't remember what was up there.

Several times I awoke and could nearly recite everything that was said in key points. I wouldn't remember small details too much. Once, the teacher was assigning parts to a play while I was having a dream about being in the bleachers of a large gymnasium. As he would assign someone a part I would turn my head and watch them walk up to what I think was a courtroom in the middle of the gym floor. (Like the stand and the judges podium and whatnot). I would even have an opinion on the decision of them to take that part. The one I remember is a guy named tyson, who is somewhat of a thug, got the part of a bad guy and I remember leaning over and telling an unvisiualized friend (I knew who he was and that he was there I just never saw him) "Who didn't see that comming". I also woke up with a nearly complete knowledge of who was doing what and I knew that I was assigned no part because I was sleeping. The teacher has stated that while I was sleeping lol.

I know it sounds a little absurd but you must believe me. For what reason would I make all this up out of nowhere to people I don't know?? lol

Also in a separate situation sleeping in class, there were times when I would dream that I was exactly where I really was: sleeping in class. In this dream, I would dream. One of the times I couldn't come out of the dream inside the dream but I knew I was dreaming in the inlaying dream. I started to freak out and came into state where I was in what seemed to be the static of a t.v. and I though I was lost forever. (I recently had a similar experience during an ecstacy trip but I was trapped in my own thoughts. Very strange as well lol.)
I came out of it in what looked like a cheesy "tunnel-through-dimensions" you would see on t.v.. I awoke from the inlaying dream to find myself in the initial dream feeling as though I had accomplished beating that dream and was now fully awake. Shortly after, I realized I was still dreaming and awoke.
Waking up in class from all that was surreal. Tripped me out pretty good lol.

Any explanations on these dreams? is it normal to have a VERY identical replication of your surroundings in dreams? Like even the position I'm in? Also, is it normal for voices in the real-world to be incorporated into a dream? And I don't mean your mom started singing guns-n-roses (Guitar and drums included) only to realize your were dreaming and THAT was your alarm going off. I mean they affect it and you absorb some of the information and the dream continues.

This kind of gives new definition to the term "half-asleep". lol.

Sorry this is huge. Hope you were bored enough not to skip any. Lol.

      Welcome to the forums Left!

It is quite normal to have sounds effect your dreams as they are while you are in class. Even though you are dreaming you can still hear things, so your brain tries to find a way to fit it into the dream.

Also for your first statment about remembering dreams, if you don't find dreams valuable or important (or worth remembering in otherwords) then your brain wont usually remember many, if any. You can probably remember your dreams in class better because they happened so recently and you find them interesting on how you can hear things going on in the classroom while dreaming. If you are actually interested in remembering dreams, a simple way to remember 1 or 2 more dreams every night is to simply set the intent to do so. If you want to go further, you can keep a dream journal.

But yeah anyways that is my answer.

Yeah I've found this whole idea of lucid dreaming to be very interesting. I generally have masterful control of my mind so I'm hoping I will be able to adopt this new attitude towards dreaming and sleeping even fairly easily. I figure now that the idea is in my head I will remember dreams a lot more. My mind usualy works in that fashion. lol.

So it's normal for sounds to find their way in but is it normal to very distinctly remember statements? I mean I literally knew who was assigned what part lol.

At least you don't think I'm crazy lol.
