Question Do I Have to Close My Eyes During WILD?

      hi, I'm Mariano(as you see)
      i'm from argentina...but this is not a presentation....so...
I have a question about the wild method I named in the topic(the guide to all guides by billybob)(WILD METHOD).

¿Do I have to close my eyes? because I readed a lot on different sites, and some say that I have to close my eyes, and some not. But, the problem is, if I close my eyes, I fall asleep(Begin to see images and be inconcient), how can I avoid this? For me, Wild is the best technique, I like to relax =P

I hope you can help me!
Thanks, great forum, very smart and seriously, I like it.

      Bye

Hi Mariano, welcome to the forum!

I'm only a newb too so I'm sure more experienced members may say differently, but personally I've never heard of people leaving their eyes open during WILD. It is a difficult thing to WILD without falling fully asleep (I've never managed to get to the dream stage lucid doing it but I've gone a long way down the rabbit hole, seen a lot of HI and scenes etc). That's the trick really - it's falling asleep normally, in bed and eyes closed, without losing your wakeful awareness. When you WILD you will always see images and patterns, that's the path to any dream - and you need to find your way to a dream before you can be lucid in one, if you see what I mean!

For me the biggest problem getting into a WILD is I build up a kind of feedback loop, thinking to myself "Do I see this stuff every night, or just when I attempt to WILD?". I guess I do see it every night but I only remember it when I'm consciously going for a WILD.

      Anyway best of luck!

Edit: Here's my favourite WILD guide: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=40684

No, don't pm a dream guide about it. Only PM dream guides if you don't get the response you were looking for on the forum, our Pm boxes are full enough

To answer your question, no, your eyes don't have to be closed. You do have to completely sever your connection with them though, meaning you should see absolutely nothing. The best way to do this is actually to use a mask, because during a WILD it may be difficult to keep your eyes open, a mask eliminates this problem.

Will be enough if I put something like a mask? like a clothe or something?

This is funny because I was just wondering this today actually. Although I've never actually successfully performed a wild, I find it difficult sometimes to keep my eyes closed for some reason. So I usually just end up being in pure darkness and shoving my face into a pillow or something equivalent to a mask .

I don't know if anyones tried this or if it even works but earlier I was taking a nap and I closed my eyes and started to count the seconds that went by. I found this helped keep me awake because when I started to fall asleep I would stop counting then I would realize I stopped counting and continue. Hope this helps

lol, why the heck would you pm a dream guide, what do you think the point on a forum is.

well, to be honest, i dont think many people go to sleep with their eyes open, so im guessing you cant lucid dream with your eyes open, but you never know, you might be on to the ultimate lucid dreaming induction technique.

      Two problems

      I'm having troubles..

1)I can't WILD perfectly, I tried for about two weeks, but all the time I fall asleep...no matter I try, I countinue falling asleep.I have tried another techniques...but they didn´t help me, and I really want to WILD....
2)I never had a lucid dream, so, ¿what's the problem? The times when I think I'm lucid...it's completely and illusions...I have dreams where I have a big control(I can fly, I do telekinesis) But IM NOT LUCID...so that's very frustrating you know....And you know what?...In this false lucid dream, I do my reality check(plugging my nose) and I can breath through my nose...so I think that i'm lucid...but the problem is when I awake in reality...I knew that I wasn't lucid...you know why...because you know when you are lucid...and you think you are lucid..

How can you help me on those??

      Thanks!

      bye

Try staying awake for a bit longer before you WILD. How long do you normally stay awake for, and how far into your night's sleep? Your timing is probably just a little off.

The goal is to activate your brain enough, so that you can stay aware as you fall asleep into a long REM cycle. If your thoughts are still foggy and tired, you may not be able to hold onto your awareness. Also, if you are not close to a REM cycle, you will just fall into a dreamless sleep, making it nearly impossible to enter a dream.

Did you try to WILD with open eyes? See what is the difference. To advance your answer I think you need more practice with a focus like meditation. And perhaps more motivation...
