      My first WILD......I think

OK, so I have been lurking around this forum for a little while reading and learning as much as I can. I have been trying to get to SP for a couple of weeks, off and on without too much success. Last night being a friday and being very tired from lots of late nights watching the Australian Open tennis I decided that I would try for a WILD. I lay in bed as still as I could and started to daydream but tried to keep my conscious awake. After about 10 minutes I must have started to drift off because I felt my body enter what I believe must have been SP coz I realized I was doing it!!!

I didn't really feel anything too scary as I was expecting after reading some of the posts on here about demons etc. At one stage I did feel something behind me so I turned around and started swinging my arms at it but just felt like I was swinging them in the air. It was not very scary at all maybe because I new what was happening. Next thing I remember I felt as if I was falling face first. Next, I remember being in a tall building and someone was showing me how to fly by running and jumping out of the edge of the building. I tried it a couple of times but couldn't jump. On the third time I did jump and felt myself starting to fly.

Now this for me was the really cool bit, even if it did only last a second or two. Everything started going from a dream like state into reality, almost as if I was going from unconcious to conscious. My eyes seemed to go from a blur to being as sharp as if I were fully awake and I could feel and hear the wind clear as day. As I said this only lasted a second or two and I must have got too excited because I lost it and it felt like I had gone back into the unconcious state.

Now this makes me wander if this actually was a WILD or was my subconcious just dreaming about stuff I have read on here. Whatever it was it was a fantastic trip and I cant wait to try it again. I am just wondering if anybody else has any similar experiences especially with the flying bit?

N.B. Sorry I don't really know all the correct lingo here yet.

To me, that sounds like you successfully had a WILD, although I could be wrong. The question is whether or not you had a sense of control inside that dream, as in were you able to perform all of those actions, or was it a dream that you weren't controlling? If the prior is the case, then it's safe to say yes, you did have your first WILD. In that case, congratz!

In summary, you definatly fell into SP by the way you have described it. You also definatly reached a dreamstate (just whether or not you were lucid is the quesiton).

On the flying bit, I personally cannot say I have experienced it as I am yet to experience my very own LD. However, from what I have read, flying is somewhat common and very often sought by fellow dreamers.

      That's about all for now.

the bit about it going from a blur to being really sharrp and clear makes it sound like a lucid dream to me.the key question is; were you aware that you were dreaming during? if so than i would say yes. i also hear falling sensations are really common with "wilders".

Thanks for the reply guys. In answer to your question yes I was aware I was dreaming throughout the whole dream. At least until the bit I got upto when everything started getting very clear and very real and I am like "what the f..k, this is brilliant" and thats when I lost it and started falling and thats all I remember. Thats the part that really interests me because it was the only part that did not feel like a dream, it felt real as if I were totally awake. I guess the WOW factor must have made me lose it.

I was definitely lucid though because I remember thinking to myself, ok this is the sleep paralysis part I wonder if I can control it. I can also remember jumping of the tall building and thinking this a dream I can do this and I am not going to plunge to my death if I jump. Thats why it took 3 times to actually jump.

So the main thing I am wondering has anyone else had the sensation while dreaming that it seemed so real it did not feel like a dream. If so was there a transition stage?

Gratz on your first LD! I can't wait to have my own.

From what I have heard, it is not uncommon at all for people who are relatively new to LDing to get messed up from their sheer excitment. Infact, it could be considered expected. I guess it just takes experience to overcome that whole "holy crap" factor.

While SP is not dreaming (in other words, you can gain SP without dreaming, as I have reached SP numerous times but not have yet successfully reached an LD), the fact that you were aware that you were dreaming and that you were able to leap off buildings and fly shows that you did indeed LD.

I cannot speak from experience, but I believe that in an LD, experiences can be relatively realistic. I would have to assume that they are only not realistic in the sense that you are fully aware that you are dreaming in an LD scenario. As for the transistion, I'll have to be honest and say that I'm not exactly sure of what goes on there and how that works.

Hopefully I am being of at least some help.

Congratulations, ScottL, on your WILD! They are very fun to have, aren't they?

I hope you have more lucids in the near future, and I'm sure that you will find on Dreamviews answers to most, if not all of your questions about lucid dreaming that you may have!
