      Havent a clue

      First of all hello,
ive been reading some of the things in the forum and ive gathered that to bring on a lucid dream there are alot of things such as looking at your hands or finding irregularities but my problem is with a normal dream, its like watching a movie, how are you supposed say move your hands or find things that arent normal if you can t move or anything like that, for example: if your watching a movie you cant make an actor move his hands just by thinking it.
so what im saying is how do I gain control and actually be able to start moving and such its like im just watching wich is not the best.
well anyway thanks in advance for your replys.

First off, welcome to Dream Views When we say to check your hands, the purpose of it is to check your reality. We often go through life with the assumption that we are in a real place in the real world. By checking your hands, you are getting your brain into the habit of questioning reality.

In dreams, our brains are not as lucid (excue the pun) as it is in waking life. We will assume that anything that happens in a dream is real, thus continue along the story line without hesitation. If you have been doing reality checks in the real world (checking your hands) you would notice that the world you are in in your dreams, is not real. Its all about AWARENESS. You need to make yourself notice that you are IN a dream. Its not about immediate control (like moving your hand to your face) its about noticing the differences Does that make sence?

As partially stated, you need to practice this in real life so that when the habbit carries over into the dream state, you will be instantly informed that you are dreaming. You may not always be completely aware, there are different levels of lucidity. The best way to improve your awareness is with practice, the more Lucid Dreams you have the more familiar you will be with that "dream feeling" and the more confident you will be when lucid.

Anyway, good luck with your lucid dreams, and welcome to the forums.
