How can I increase the CLARITY of my recall?

Im starting to be able to recall 4-5 different scenarios of my dreams each night.. but the problem is it always comes to me in flashes and broken images, and I can never weave them into a story.

For instance, last night. I woke up and at first, didnt think I dreamed. I just rolled over and groaned. Then I was like OH WAIT! I walked to the store and then to a restaurant and lost my wallet in a dream! So i write that down in my journal.
5 Mins later I realize "Oh yea, I was also in my living room talking with kayla devin and shawn last night!" -So I write that down too

maybe 10 mins later I remember being in a classroom doing a science experiment. Cant remember what the experiment was, just remember doing one. So I write that down too. Perhaps at lunch time or supper time, I'll realize I had lunch with my mom + grandma. Ill go write that down, minus any details. (And my dreams are surprisingly realistic most times.. is that weird?)

They can come all day long to me, images of places I was in my dream, but very rarely can I weave them into stories... any tips?
Oh, and I even use melatonin and Vitamin b6 sometimes. Ive been keeping a dream journal + using a bit of mnemonic at night to make myself recall them clearly, but still nothing but broken fragments.

only one question - when do you go to sleep?

I'm just wondering, because the exact same thing happens when i stay up late. it seems that no matter how long i sleep i still have trouble remembering my dreams.

I wouldn't worry about not being able to 'weave them into a story'.

You said that you're recalling 4-5 different dreams, and I don't think anything's wrong with you. The different dreams we see throughout the night aren't always connected, each can have a separate theme/feel and be part of a different "story", if that makes sense.

By the way, 4-5 dreams a night is great, keep up the good work.

Wait, wait, wait. This seems to be a really brilliant insight.
If i connect it with my experiences, it starts to make sense. I will have to dig a little bit more into my DJ, but genereally this makes sense.

Now, what may be the reason?
