      Here Now

I'm Memento. I have a somewhat casual and personal interest in lucid dreaming and dreaming in general. I don't have any expertise in the field but I'm looking to learn and hopefully find some interesting people to talk to. I've been able to visualize extremely well since a young age and my dream recall seems to fluctuate - I remember a dream per night almost every night but I have periods where I don't remember my dreams at all.

      Nice to meet you all.

I suggest you read through the tutorials, here.

I also suggest you start a dream journal. Write down everything and anything you remember from the dream. That will help you remember more of your dreams.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

      Happy lucids.
      Bollocks.

Welcome to Dreamviews. Have you ever had a lucid dream before?

Does a false awakening count as a lucid dream?

Not unless you realized it was a dream before you woke up. Lucid dreaming: Knowing you are dreaming while in the dream.

Then going by that definition, yes. I realized that I always see myself or the center character in 3rd person when I dream, so I realized pretty quickly that it wasn't real. Typically, I woke up straight after. Since then, I haven't really put much effort into it but I've decided to actually attempt it seriously now. I've read a lot about the various techniques to induce lucid dreaming but I haven't tested them.

Yup, if that awareness is gained during a false awakening, it's still a lucid dream. Sounds like you're in a good position to learn it
