      Dream Stabilization help

      Every time i start de-stabilizing in and LD, I try spinning around. My dream always stabilizes, but everything dissappears and i'm left standing in blackness. I'm still completely aware of everything (which is just blackness) and no matter how hard I try to imagine a new dream scene nothing happens. Any suggestions? All feedback is appreciated.

      * Stay calm
      * Hand-rubbing: try rubbing your hands together and experiencing the texture, friction, warmth, etc.
      * Spinning. There are many variations. Try and see what works best for you. (can be used to switch dream scenes). As you spin, imagine and feel that you are bumping into objects.
      * Focus on the Senses: what do you see? What do you hear, taste, smell, and feel? Can you see what's around you? Is there a breeze? How cold or warm is it? Etc. Focus on these details.

      *Focus on textures, by looking at them and feeling them. This can be a texture in the environment, or on you. Look at the hair on your arm, or the fingerprints on your fingers.

      * Look down at your own body
      * Look down at the ground
      * Shout, "Clarity Now!"/"Increase Clarity"/analogous phrase
      * Speak out loud
      * Do [more] reality checks
      * Concentrate on the feeling of your dream body as you move. The breeze against you, the stretching of your muscles, the brush of your clothing against your skin, etc.
      * Do not think of your physical body. Don't TRY not to think about it. Just don't. If you do find yourself thinking about your body lying in bed, immediately distract yourself with the dream environment.
      * Begin to meditate within the dream
      * Lay down and attempt WILD within the dream (can be used to switch dream scenes)

      How to Stabilize Your Lucidity

      * Stay calm
      * Do [more] reality checks
      * Recall and list your dream goals
      * Tell yourself that it is a dream. Remind yourself that it is all in your head, and that you are in a lucid dream. Say this out loud, if you feel it will help.
      * Do a few simple math problems, or recite a short poem or phrase (make it fun, make it dream related, for example "Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream." )

      in regard to "sustaining the sight of a dream" carlos castaneda wrote about looking for a specific object in your dream (such as your hands), and using this to replenish your dreaming energy. you could stare at your hands/rub them and make quick glances at a few objects, returning to the sight of your hands. the hands can be like a reference point that maintains the specific form of your dream. i like this because it gives you something to come back to if you start drifting off on a tangent.

      Spinning sucks. Pretend you're in the movie Crank. Keep moving with intensity and you'll be fine.

      I do so hate when everything disappears one is left in blackness.
      I find this happens several times throughout the sleep process, but when I stay calm, the dream scenes return and start again.
      When I do not stay calm I wake up.

      I think that sometimes one enters the dream state, one begins to lucid dream, but runs short of energy/ or mental concentration to continue
      and begins to enter the natural states of waking.
      I'd recommend meditation work on sustaining mental focus.

      Spinning never worked for me either. After I would stop spinning, my vision gets waaaaaaay crazy, as if I'm still spinning.
