Question How long should I put my alarmclock for?

basically I feel like having many dreams tonight, don't care if i'm lucid or not but i just want a good dream recall. how many hours till one dream ends? can you give me the specific timings for when a dream ends? oh and also how many dreams can i have per night?thanks.

hi! I don't think using an alarm will specifically help your dream recall. what it will do is give you more chances for lucidity. 3am is a good time.

though for dream recall I suggest once you wake up to not open your eyes and not to move and instead try to recall your dreams- moving kills dream recall.

It does, because you're waking up while dreaming, and it's still fresh in your mind. You just have to write it down, or you'll forget it.

I think an alarm clock will hinder your recall as it jerks you awake. Vitamin B6 helps in recall, as does staying in bed with your eyes closed aftr you wake up.

The best thing to do is wake up after every dream you have. but i dont think alarms can be timed that well, can they? I go for 4 hours anyway, helps me with recall a bit.

Well, the average REM cycle runs for an hour and a half for about the first half of sleep. So, you want to wake up an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes after you go to sleep. If you get to sleep in five minutes, I would set it to an hour and 45 minutes later; an hour and a half for the REM cycle to be over, 10 minutes in case it runs a little longer, and 5 minutes to get to sleep. Also try drinking a lot of water before you go to bed at night. You automatically wake up between dream cycles, but you usually go back to sleep and forget you woke up. If you do this, your body will keep you awake for a while because you have to go to the bathroom. Get up, go to the bathroom, record your dreams, and maybe grab some water, depending on how late it is. At this point, you can go back to sleep regularly, or try a WILD/WBTB.

Spend a few nights trying to wake up after every dream. Make a commitment to yourself to record the time every time you wake up throughout the night. This will give you a good general idea of your current sleep schedule.

Then, you can chose to interrupt it or alter it with alarm clocks as you see fit.

Drinking water = Win. You'll wake up after the REM cycle. I didn't think this would work at first but I did try and...I did wake up at 1AM which is around after 2h off sleep. Try it you'll see!

I find auto suggestion works better then an alarm clock as it works for me and you can keep your eyes closed for a few seconds.

As stated, lots of water works great too.
