Problems with dream recall since starting my dream journal.

Hi, first time poster, this is the fifth time I've tried starting a dream journal, and the fifth time this has happened.
Usually, I remember all my dreams, they are vivid, colorful, and long. The first few days after starting a dream journal, I'm fine, my dream recall is normal, after about three days I have problems remembering. Why is this, doesn't make sense to me. I have a tape recorder by my bed so I can record them, right after I wake up their gone, I know I'm dreaming because I remember fragments. Can somebody help? Thanks.

That is completely backwards. Normally the journal helps you remember more dreams. Maybe writing in your journal is interrupting your morning routine. Do you find yourself getting up right away to write in the journal? That could interrupt the time you normally spend lying in bed going over your dreams in your head.

Try lying still for a few minutes with your eyes closed when you first wake up. Don't worry about writing in your journal until you have the dream firmly locked in your memory.

Oh I had this problem, natural recall suffered because of it, so I just record them late in the afternoon. Go with RB advice.
