      Hello + some questions

Hello, my name is Scott, I am 16 and I have been talking to my friends about remembering dreams and such and I found this site. First off, great site, and its very well done.

Secondly, I have a few questions:

      1) What does it mean if all your dreams are violent? In almost all of them I am an assassin/killer or something. But in a military way, not serial killer....lol

      2) Sometimes I just randomly know I am dreaming. I just said 'I am dreaming!!' last night, and then I realized I was. Is that normal?

Ok well thanks for the help!

      Welcome Aha.

      1. I have the same problem, Basically you can figure it out yourself by looking at your daily thoughts or actions, Such as sitting around playing violent video games etc..

      2. I get that too sometimes, I guess its normal?

It means that you probably watch a lot of violent shows, dreams are made of what you experience thoughtout the day.

It means you're lucid dreaming congradulations.

I can relate to those questions, because they pretty much sum up how I dream. I've a really bad habit of crushing people's skulls in dreams, and I'm almost ashamed to admit how satisfying it is.

1)You have way fewer inhibitions in dreams, so if the situation you find yourself in calls for violence, you're more likely to throw yourself into that role without worrying. Same goes for sex dreams.

Besides that , dreams reflect the things you focus on. The only movies I watch are action, sci-fi, or horror, and that reflects big time in my dreams.

Emotions also have a big influence in dreams. If you're pissed off a lot during the day, that's going to make violent dreams. As a recovering rage-a-holic, I speak from experience.

The other big factor for me is my waking urges to smash people who get on my nerves. I never act on it, but I still want to. In order for something to get on you nerves, you have to focus an excessive amount of attention on it, otherwise it wouldn't bother you. And dreams reflect the things you focus your attention on, whether in waking life or in a dream.

      2) Normal enough. You'd be what most people around here (the ones who fumble with techniques) term a "Natural". But my answer to your first question applies here as well. If you're focused on lucid dreaming, you dreams will reflect that.

Of course there are many other things you can focus on in your life other than LDing that can produce the right dream scenarios to allow for LDs.

When it's not something odd that tips me off, then it starts as this nagging feeling that gets stronger until it kind of pops and I become lucid.

You should keep a DJ on here. Everyone love a good violent dream, they're very entertaining.

Dream Journal? I will next time, although I am also "content" with a sex dream. I am gonna try for that tonight. If I get either a violent/sex dream, I will post it, with as much detail as possible. Lol could be a few sentences or a few pages....
