      New Here, need some help

Hello all, I started researching and practicing lucid dreaming just over a week ago. The first night I had no success in gaining lucidity or even recall, not that I expected much to happen the first night. The second and third nights I had lucid dreams, they didn't last long but I realized I was dreaming and tried to take control. The first time I got so excited after realizing I was dreaming I woke up in about 10 seconds. The second time I was able to stay asleep and lucid for a little while but lost control as time went on. At first I was doing "spiderman-like" acrobatics but as time went on I wasn't able to do anything superhuman. The next few nights after that I was able to recall my dreams fairly well but did not obtain lucidity. Then I had a three or four night dry spell with no memory of my dreams, but I am pretty sure that's because I smoked marijuana before bed on those nights. For the last four or five nights I have had extremely good recall, remembering about four dreams a night and remembering most of them fairly clearly, each morning it is easier and easier to recall. But, I have not been able to attain lucidity at all since those first two times. The nights when I was able to recall four dreams a night I was praciticing MILD and WBTB. I have been keeping up with my dream journal every morning. I do reality checks about every hour during the day but once I'm home from work I only do one every three to four hours.

So I am recalling very well, doing RC`s fairly regularly, keeping up with my dream journal and I`m thinking about buying some vitamin B pills (I`ve heard they help you have clearer, more vivid dreams). Any advice or tips about how to help gain lucidity would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome to see how your Lucid Dreaming progress is coming along in such a short time. As for the vitamins, B6 is a good one the helps with clearer and more vivid dreams. IF you want to stray away from the B's, I've found that Green Tea extract helps with remembering dreams as well. Our Supplement / Herb / Drug Repository sticky in the Lucid Aids section has a good list of other things to help dreaming along. It also helps (as many here will tell you) to write down dreams in a journal so you can read them over and find dream signs and other useful things to help you get lucid. Plus it's just fun to read a good dream over a few days or weeks after you've had it. Again, welcome, and please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Welcome to Dreamviews! I also experienced early success with lucidity and from experience, it can spoil you, lol. Just keeo at it. Your routine sounds good and make sure you keep with the dream journal. Try to write as many details as possible. Also, just before bed, I like to convince myself that I will have a lucid. Not just say it or think it, but literally convince yourself that lucid dreaming is easy as pie and you will easily have 1 or more tonight. It surprisingly works well for me. Try not to get discouraged if you don't manage to become lucid. If you worry about it or have too many doubts, then lucid dreaming can only get more difficult. Good Luck with your future efforts!

Thanks for the advice. I've read about dream signs but haven't really went back through my dream journal to look for any. I think that could be a big help with realizing I'm in a dream. I also like this idea of convincing myself and believing I will have a lucid dream rather than just saying it to myself. Again, thank you for the advice and hopefully I'll be posting again soon about my lucid experiences.
