That New Guy, Over There! Yeah! Him!

I, being the person who posts at an ungodly hour morning, has decided to follow this site. For reason of self enlightenment, social networking (Maybe?), and the ability to do kick-*** things in dreams. The overly-superficial and ungodly-nerd Helter Skelter (Or Chris as you crazy people would wonder) joins this site to say the following.

      "Heyo!"

      I know, a bit of a weird build-up, eh? I'm just bored

Bit of a question for those experts, what time on average do you learn LDing? I know it takes a while, but my sporadic sleep schedule and lack of reality checks has been causing myself some concern if it's proving detrimental, I'm about two days into it.

Joined in after seeing an article about LDing a week after having a disturbingly odd and weird dream where I asked a person in the dream. I've chosen to omit details for the dear sanity of others.

Oh, and to those reading this, PLEASE join in my future journal, positive or neutral criticism keeps me from quitting anything...

What else to say... I love videogames?... Hmmm.....

Usually takes weeks for most. On and offers can take years to learn. It all depends how much effort you are willing to give, and how much motivation you have. Welcome to DreamViews, btw. Love your avatar. 2-D.

Woot! Gorillaz is always good. So for weeks on end? Because I'm into it, but only for at least one or two hours before going to sleep.

So another question, do binaural beats help at all? Because I read up on them and felt that it may be helpful if I listed to 'em for an hour or so before going to bed.

Welcome to Dreamviews! The time it takes to learn LDing varies from person to person. Some, myself included, learned to LD very early on. Generally it takes a people a few weeks. Rarely does it takes longer than a month or two. Once you have your first few LDs it will progressively become easier to get lucid. I strongly suggest starting, and keeping up with a dream journal. As far as binaural beats go, I haven't used them myself, but certain things/strategies/techniques work well for some and not well for others. There are people who like and use binaural beats and there people who do not. I would suggest giving it a try and see if it works well for you. Good Luck to you!

      to dreamviews!

For me, anyway, it took about 3 weeks (had my first lucid just last night! Woo!) I should warn you, though, that this was with a lot of devotion and autosuggestion. I tried to MILD every night, reality checked all the time, kept a detailed dream journal, etc. It's a process that definitely requires some sort of determination and commitment. It really can't be passively done (or at least, not as effectively).

As for binaurals, I don't think they could hurt. Studies show that, with binaurals, you can entrain your brain waves and pull them toward a specific frequency. You want to aim for the theta range, where most lucid dreaming takes place. However, you don't want to just launch right into theta wave frequencies...you want to start off in the beta waves, which is where most people are naturally chillin' throughout the day, and slowly drop the frequency, in theory getting your brain waves to follow. I've set binaurals to music (which I recommend), such as Jimmy Buffett and Journey. Whatever you do, though, make sure that when you listen to them, you're not actively engaged in any activity, as this will prevent brain wave entrainment.

Good luck, and keep with it!
