What type of dreams are these?

I'm new here and not entirely sure where this post belongs, having said that I figure the "newbie" section would be a great starting point and having it moved if need be after that.

I am a little confused by the conscious in the day and conscious at night. When I do this I wake feeling like I am constantly stressed or worried about something, like my mind never has a chance to rest. Whats with this?

I have been able to control my dreams to some degree over the last 4 years, it started by accident. I had the opportunity to work days at the school board as an educational assistant and nights at a group home. I would sleep from 6pm till 11pm. I found that my days and nights became tangled together and I couldn't distinguish if I was awake and day dreaming vs. being asleep and conscious. On top of that I began to experience real life events that haven't happened yet. I began walking around in the day time wide awake feeling like I was dreaming...you can imagine the crazy feelings I would get.

At this point I have all different types of dreams, often I have the dreams where I know I am dreaming can smell, feel, walk, talk, hear, see and change things that I don't like with in my dreams. Often I see things and know that I'm dreaming since in real life those "things" wouldn't be happening. When I have a dream that comes true I remember the series of events by the "thing" that wouldn't necessarily be happening occurring.
The first time this happened I was SHOCKED. I remember dreaming that I was at my friends house and that her couch had been moved due to flooring issues. I was planning a night out and a few ppl were gathering at her house to meet us. I remembered the couch which triggered my memory of the dream that I had a few days prior. I reasured myself that the dream couldn't come true because in my dream there had been a white car and I hadn't known any one in real life that owned a white car. I begin chatting and enjoying the night, my friend suddenly said that her car had been hit and she had a rental, I said "it's not white is it" she looked at me like how the hell did you know that, what have you done to my car lol. I knew at that point that the rest of the events were going to happen just like they had in my dream.
Those dream I explained got so intense that I knew what ppl were going to say, would finish sentences for ppl, could think to myself "oh a deer is going to be crossing I better slow down". All was well until I witnessed something bad happening in a dream that I knew would come true. When I realized that the "bad thing" was going to happen I had all the feelings come flooding in and felt like I as having a panic attack. My dreams that came true slowed down until I became pregnant with my son.

Over all at this stage I have dreams that I control, I fly around, I look for things, I am nosy and listen in on ppls convos or see what others are doing.
OH I also still get the overlap, it feels like this....you know when your in/were in school, and you would day dream and could hear the teacher talking but weren't really paying attention? My dreams feel the same way, I feel like I"m having my dream but there is something else happening that I can hear and see. I don't remember that secondary stuff happening until something triggers it. I also still get confused as to whether I really am daydreaming in the store and someone nearby is having a conversation about bad weather or if I was dreaming about shopping and someone had a conversation nearby about bad weather.....either way I knew a few days later when the wind storm hit exactly how fast the winds would gust.

What type of dreams am I having and how do I decifer my day dreams from my night dreams? do I just do more reality checks?

Why does my conscious mind be so over worked feeling when I wake up from my dreams?

Dreams that supposedly tell the future are called precognitive dreams. They're being discussed in the beyond dreaming forum here

I don't know about the other things. There's a clear distinction between waking life and dreams for me.

yeah you seem to be having semi-lucid precognitive dreams. Check out the "reality check" thread in the tutorials section it has techniques you can use to tell for sure if it's a dream or not. cheers!

your "ability" seems very interesting- people here just strive to have lucid dreams but telling the future is something else altogether. if you were telling the truth (your story sounded quite detailed and believable) than you are one unique individual, cherish your gift!

I'd be wary to believe that. It seems to me that as a result of your tangled consciousness, somethings wrong in some part of your brain (perhaps the amygdala, which I think is the part responsible for memory. Correct me if I'm wrong) is having trouble distinguishing dreaming and waking, and will accidentally overlay events to the conscious part of your dream. However, if you find this to be advantageous (no matter if you're truly seeing the future or not) cherish it, train it, and make it a useful tool for yourself.

      Also, welcome to DV.
