Congrats on your first lucid! As long as you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid. You don't have to have control for it be counted as a LD. For stabilization, you can also try looking at your feet for a few moments until the dream seems clear and then slowly raising your head up, feeling some textures and objects around you, shouting "Increase Clarity Now!", looking at a single object in the dream scene (keeping your eyes still and fixed) and imagining the dream scene slowly clearing up, dream spinning, etc. I would try a few different techniques and see which ones work best for you!
