Whats a good way to lay still when having a DEILD?

Every morning when I wake up from a dream I move to get more comfortable, I forget that I have to stay still to induct a DEILD. So what is a good method to make sure you stay still when you wake up or even make it the first thing you remember when you wake up. I think thats the hardest part of the DEILD.

It is supposed to be the hardest part of DEILD, but sometimes it isn't, but first let me answer your question.

This might sound stupid, but it works. When you go to bed, analyze what the back of your eyelids look like, how it feels when you have your eyes closed. Before falling asleep repeat a mantra, such as "I will stay calm and keep my eyes closed when I wake up". Try to remember what it feels like when you are awaking from a dream, I usually start feeling that I'm laying on sand and everything starts to fade away. At this point I stay still (I don't know that I'm dreaming, I just somehow know that I gotta stay calm, not move, not open my eyes).

The funny thing is, not moving and not opening my eyes after waking (due to my DEILD alarm) is actually the easiest part for me, however, since I'm new to lucid dreaming I just get too exited, just the fact that I woke up, stayed still didn't open my eyes makes me think "I will definitely lucid dream right away". I become really exited and my heart starts pumping really fast, and this makes me too conscious making it impossible to go back to sleep right away :S.

      thanks a lot,

I think I already heard of this technique with the eyes somewhere, so I'll definitly try it out. The biggest problem for me is I think that I usually forget that I have to keep still, and becoming to excited will probably happen with me too, but hey practice makes perfect.

good luck with your DEILD's too.

Well, yea, auto-suggestion is great (as mentioned above)

But another good thing to try which I recently heard of someone doing, and having good results is, make an audio file with soothing music/sounds for about 5 hours, and at the end of the 5 hours have a voice saying "stay still, don't move a muscle, don't open your eyes. Then maybe have a 2 second bleep. Then the voice again. Then end the audio.

Play that using earphones, or speakers, or whatever. Just start it playing when you go to sleep. And it should wake you up while in REM (then would be 4 and a half hours into sleep assuming it takes about 30 mins to get to sleep in the first place) And that could work MOST of the time.

If none of those work, leather straps do wonders.
