      Easy Lucid Dreaming?

I want to be able to lucid dream, but its a bit hard because I'm not very good at recognizing being in a dream (even when there are obvious dream signs). I cannot keep a dream journal because I wake up early to go to school and I don't have the time to write stuff down.

It seems like the easiest way to get a lucid dream is to play some lucid dreaming music from my iPod. I only found one lucid mix from this site (the one that is 30 minutes long, and the guy is saying stuff like "I am aware that I am dreaming," and "I will make sure to check dream signs," and other stuff), but I don't really like it because the voice really creeps me out. Are there any mp3s without a voice?

I also don't actually fall asleep until several hours after I lay down in bed. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing (from a lucid dreamer's perspective).

I've also recently started asking myself "Am I dreaming right now?" at random points in the day. Hopefully this will become routine enough that I will do it in a dream, and then become lucid. I read on the site that I should be looking at my hands when I do that. Is the required or recommended?

I would strongly recommend keeping a dream journal, in some way, shape, or form. Even if you wake up, roll over, and just jot down a few key points, it'll help like you wouldn't believe.

If you're willing to invest half an hour or so, I recommend downloading Audacity and Switch (free and virus-free) to create your own beats. (Switch just converts files to and from .wav form, so Audacity can use them.) You want to do a bit of research into binaural beats and isochronic tones. Keep in mind, however, that these are lucid aids; that is, listening to them only will probably not make you lucid. Tutorial: http://isochronic-tones.blogspot.com...sing-sine.html

I also don't actually fall asleep until several hours after I lay down in bed. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing (from a lucid dreamer's perspective).
If this irritates you, look up Loaf's thread in the general dream forum about reverse blinking. Seems to really help a lot of people.

This is an excellent start. If you like autosuggestion, check out the MILD tutorials. If you like the reality checking portion, look up DILD's and Reality Checking. Looking at your hands is okay as a reality test, but a far more dependable one is the nose-pinch RC (when you pinch your nose shut and try to breathe through it. Can be done discreetly). This one is far less prone to failing, but I recommend backing it up with two other reality tests, like the digital clock test/body of text test, looking at your hands, and/or trying to push a finger through your palm.

Also check out Naiya's tutorial. She really emphasizes awareness in day-to-day life as a means to achieve lucidity. (AILD?) Listen to her, as she is the queen.

      Also, welcome to DV!

There is no easy way to lucid dreaming. At your stage, you really should have and keep a dream journal.
This is perhaps the most important step towards lucid dreaming.

Keep a recording device if it is easier for you to say your dreams aloud.

Keep working at it, and I am sure you will be successful.

I'm not sure how or where I would do that.

I'm quite sure that keeping a dream jounral is to recognize dream signs so you see them again. I don't think simply "jotting down" something would help.

Where is Aiya's tutorial? You weren't very specific as to where I could find it.

I already have audacity, so I checked out the tutorial that you linked to. The tutorial appears to use an older version of Audactity, so crossfading doesn't work as its supposed to (I had a different waveform at the end)

I checked out Reverse Blinking, and it looks like it will work quite well. I will try it tonight.

Keeping a detailed dream journal and autosuggesting are the two primary ways of building dream recall. For autosuggestion, just silently repeat a mantra to yourself whenever you get a moment during the day, and/or right before you go to sleep. "I will remember my dreams", etc.

Dream journals can be used for recognizing dream signs, but they really are invaluable for dream recall. For the "jotting down" bit, I was thinking of marking down the key points of your dream so you could come back to it later when you have an open moment, remember the dream, and fill in the rest of the details.

Yeah, the older one is still available for download, I think. They should work about the same, though, I think...

Reverse blinking has worked wonders for me, sometimes it would take me one hour and a half to fall asleep. Through reverse blinking I fall asleep in 10-20 minutes.

You say that you want an easy way to lucid dreaming? Don't you think all people here want the same? Do you really think people would pick the hard way...?

All you have to do is to wake up 10 minutes earlier than what you do now. You don't have to write a book about your dreams, only key words, if that works best for you.
