      Dream Recall Clarification

Hello! I'm a new member to this site. I've been interested in lucid dreams for a while now, and I was wondering if anyone can help me with the dream recall portion.

From what i read, if I understand it correctly, then it would be ideal to wake up several times during the night to record dreams. Is that true? If so, how is this possible? Is it a natural occurrence I can stimulate, or does it require outside influence, like an alarm clock?

Also, any advice on actually recording the dreams would be appreciated. Is there anything important I should try to remember specifically? And how about finding my dream signs? Is there any method to identifying them I can try?

At any rate, I look forward to joining your ranks soon.

Well that can help but you don't need to, I barely try to wake up in the night and I recall 1-2 long dreams a night which is good enough but if you want to wake up I have a crazy good mantra for it. If you don't know that is something you repeat to yourself in your head as you go to sleep.

Go like this: (You need to say the number as well)

      1. I will wake up after each dream cycle
      2. I will wake up after each dream cycle
      3. I will wake up after each dream cycle.......

It works so well, I fully recalled 6 dreams before and I DEILDed 3 times so I got 4 lucids but that was before I found this site and I didn't record it.
DEILD is when you wake up from a dream but you still have your eyes closed and trick your body into thinking you are still asleep, you can't move at all, so with this you can chain lucids.

Sorry if I told you things you don't really care about but it's good for a head start I guess.

It is not required to wake up after every dream to remember them though. I usually don't, and when you wake up in the morning, lay there still with your eyes closed and backtrack through your dreams. You usually can remember most of your dreams this way.

Not saying waking up after every dream is bad. It is actually better because each dream is fresh in your mind when you wake up. Its a good technique, but not required.

The first step to find your dream signs is to keep a dream journal which I can see you are doing. Before going to bed, reread your dreams. Try to spot objects, persons or events that you dream often about and write them down.

Dream Signs are mostly used to become lucid but you can use them for dream recall, at least, that's what I do. To do that, you'd be better not to limit yourself to one or two dreamsigns. Just record all your dream signs and then after waking up, when you remembered all the dreams you could and you feel like you can't remember anymore, try thinking about your dreamsigns and it might remind you of a dream you had in which there was the dream sign your thinking about. I've been remembering one dream per day using this technique.

      Hope I helped

its natural for a person to wake up after each dream, while most people dont realize this and fall right back to sleep, when they wake up later they dont even really remember waking up many times throughout the night, just like if someone calls you in the middle of the night, you talk to them and then go right back to sleep, for the most part when you actually wake up later you dont remember having the phone conversation at all.

now what i did to make sure id recognize when i wake up in the middle of the night and remember my dreams i used this mantra before falling asleep, id say in my head over and over till i fall asleep "i will wake up after each dream and remember my dreams" i did that one night and had success the first night i did it, and now i just naturally wake up after every dream. it has greatly increased my recall. for example, i had 6 dreams last night.

The last few nights i've woken up in the morning and gone back to sleep for about an hour, i've only just begun to try dream recall and it works well, I remembered a little bit of 4 or 5 dreams. I don't even use an alarm clock, i'm just lazy and want to sleep longer
