      Dream question (well I guess)

Has anyone here ever like. Been about to sleep like, your JUST into the point before you sleep were your not really conscience but maybe you still see or are still technically awake and your mind just starts drifting off and SUDDENLY it's as if someone snuck up on you with a huge gong or something and suddenly it's as if you heard a huge noise and you just like JUMP kind of then your fully awake again?
Like one of my friends says it's happened to them before so I'm fairly sure maybe it's happened to you guys at one point?

Yes, that is indeed very disturbing, and it has happend to me quite a few times. This is not really a dream question though, unless you are attempting a WILD. All I can say is, there isn't really a way to counter this. I suggest keeping the room as dark and quiet as possible before going to sleep.

Oh, well I'm not trying to counter it or anything I just thought it was weird and was wondering if it happens to someone else.

And also what's a WILD I have seen A LOT of the different terms on the internet about dreaming but theres to many for me to remember.

Sure, I've had that happen several times. What you're describing is called a hypnic jerk.

Even though a falling sensation may be the most common to experience, that's not the case for everyone. It's quite possible to hear a gong instead, or any other imagery. Personally, I don't get any imagery at all when this happens, just the jump afterwards. But then I've never been much of a visualizing type.

yea, I've had this happen, but this can happen to me because of a lot of things, not just falling asleep. like if I'm listening to or meditating to an induction track, sometimes certain notes make me violently arch my like a muscle spasm. Doesn't matter if I'm laying down or sitting up, and I can't counteract it no matter how well I know it will happen. And this can happen multiple times in one session. Anyone know what this or is it the same thing?

Wait, no no no, that's not what I meant sorry for my horrible way of explaining things. What I meant was it's AS IF someone did that to make you jump like I'm pretty sure most of the times that's happened WAS falling but some of the time it's just completely random. I never like hear an actual gong or anything but sometimes it feels like (even though theres no noise that I hear at all) there WAS a really loud noise kind of but idk.

Uhm ok sure lets go with that, sorry I really don't know much about any thing you just said I'm really new to anything that has to do with dreaming. I haven't even ever had a lucid dream (on purpose) before. And I've been trying for almost a month.

Is there anyway to higher your chances of getting this? I'd like to experience I would also like to experience SP. I've once was about to fall asleep or felt as if I was going to and then I felt like someone hit the front of my neck and it woke me up. It was cool I think.

well don't be discouraged, eventually you'll have one, and they'll come more often after that first one. And HI and HS are the names given to the halucinations you get before sleep. Vague shapes you see when your eyes are closed are HI. Sounds you hear as you near a dream state are HS. And I think there is another term that involves hallucinating after a dream with your eyes open, but I forget the name.

And if you want to know these terms just read around in the basics. It can be a while before grasping all the vocabulary of dreams.

I right now would NEVER want to do SP lol, it sounds freaky and I already hate sounds in the night for some reason which is why usually I sleep with a fan on in my room.

And also would/could SP be the same in the morning? Because I remember a while ago the last time it happened I woke up in the morning (about like1-2 years ago probably) and I had been sleeping on the couch sense me and a friend were playing video games all night and I was face down sleeping on the couch to were like my face was right in the corner so I could barley breath but I tried to move or gasp for breath but I couldn't do it but yet I could see and like finally after it seemed like 5 minutes of suffocating (probably less then that actually) I finally just randomly gasped for a breath and moved a little but then right as I started to move again it happened again and I couldn't move for another couple minutes and could barley breath.
I explained what happened to a couple friends and they said my mind probably like woke up before my actual body did?
Do you know anything about that?

Yes, that is likely to be SP. Did you feel any presence in the room with you or hear any strange noises?

Hi there yes I have had that myself for me it was like a jolt of electric through my body

You must remember that none of this is harmful to you and it is the natural process of the body’s sleep pattern but why it is new and different is because we are perusing a different angle when we sleep keep going and remember there’s nothing to be scared off

Happens to me whenever i try to WILD during math class. Sometimes it is a real sound like the teacher shouting at someone or sometimes its just a sound in my head.

yes, and unless you are trying to get to SP, almost everyone who experiences it has it as they wake up.
