      New user :>

Hi guys, i really wanna master LD, got some things i wanna investigate
I'm beginning my journey tonight and will try to remember my dreams.

Have I understood correctly if i am supposed to just try to remember my dreams for some weeks, and move on to other things later?

So, all i will do tonight is try to remember my dream and write it down in the morning.
      Gnite!

Yepp. Get yourself together a dream journal. Maybe get yourself into the habbit of reality checking. and looking up on a few techniques. good luck !!

welcome and good luck! i'm a newbie as well, started my dream journal and working on recall, although i really just want to become lucid as soon as possible.

something that really helps me to focus on my goal of attaining lucidity is reading the dreamjournals of other users on the site who have mastered it and have awesome experiences with it. wakingnomad has a really fascinating dreamjournal.

it's all so exciting! best of luck.

Welcome to Dreamviews! There are also many other new members, so don't worry about it! You don't necessarily have to get your dream recall up very good before you start anything else. What I would do, is to look at the different techniques, and find one that you want to start working on. Read up on it, get some information, so that when you feel satisfied with your dream recall, you can easily get your first lucid.

      Best of luck!

Excitement is a dream-killer! I'm serious, it is. Many people new to lucid dreaming often wake up right after they become lucid for the first few times because they gets excited.

Calm down, do some meditating for about 10 minutes, and maybe use Pandora as a visualization to fall asleep to Good luck!

Hey aodimp, don't fret WILD is probably the hardest technique to learn/master, first off. Secondly, a simple mantra might work for you with dream recall... I tell myself "I will remember my dreams" when I'm having troubles remembering stuff, and it seems to work. I repeat it over and over until I fall asleep.

After trying a few techniques, I have chosen DILD. I can't WILD to save my life, and it's too frustrating for me to learn. Anyways, one doesn't need to WILD to have a LD every night. Naiya has LDs a few times a night, and she uses DILD more than WILD (to my knowledge... her DILD count vastly out numbers her WILD count, anyways ). I'm working up to about 1 week, myself.

The thing to remember, with any technique you choose, is to relax. Most people here find that the more you try to force a LD, the less likely they are to have one (myself included in that statement!).

All it really takes is diligent practice with one chosen technique (it's really important to stick to one - at least, it is for me). Keep up with it every night. Be consistent. You will eventually have a LD.

Edit: Just wanted to post, that Naiya's guide is what I've been using. I went from having LDs a few times a year to having one at least once a week by using her guide.

Specifically, I do the visualization DILD at night, and I consistently RC throughout my day. I try to work on overall day-long awareness.

How did it go? It sounds like you are already making progress remembering your dreams. Noticing those frequent midnight awakenings is a huge step in mastering your dreams.

Sometimes trying to do too much at once can just confuse things. Only take on as much as you feel comfortable with. If you would like to get started with WILD, but don't want to interfere with all the other stuff your trying to keep track of at night, you can practice during daytime naps. Find a good time during the day to practice relaxation and meditation techniques, or pay attention to what it feels like to slip into sleep. Don't get frustrated if you don't score a ton of lucid dreams from this. It is just practice, with the added bonus of some possible successful WILDs.

Yeah, daytime naps work really nice, i tried yesterday and I remembered the dream really well. Right now I'm up for a WBTB, trying to focus on LD so thats all I can think of when I fall asleep again. Thanks for the help

and yet I fail, again. This night i really dedicated to LD, i even slept for 12 hours, remembered 4-5 dreams and i woke up several times during the night. And still my dreams are just like they were before I heard about LD. I can't tell myself with confidence "I will dream lucid" anymore before i fall asleep. And I don't see how my RC's will get into my dreams...

Enough whine there. Well, i don't understand what DILD is.. Isn't it just a WBTB? And, can't you apply a WILD to a WBTB?

      I'm confused and a little sad ;(

hi aodimp! i'm in the same boat... i've been trying to LD for about four years now, on and off, and for about a week in my most recent attempt. i've gotten close over the years but now i feel like i'm getting closer than ever!

and yet, it is frustrating to dedicate so much time to something that doesn't yield the results you want. i definitely know how this feels! here are some things that help me:

-reminding myself of Edison and all those other historical figures that tried a million times before they achieved their dreams

-reading the dream journals of people who are successful--their experiences remind me of what i'm trying for, and how awesome i'll feel when i get it!

-going over my own dream journal and putting all my dream signs in bold; then making a chart of how frequently they occur-- like so:

      Old Friend/Acquaintance 7
Allusion to Book or Movie 6
      Family 4
      Nervous, embarrassed, insecure 4
      Books 4
      Talking/Thinking about Dreams 3
      Lack of Surprise 3
      Game (esp. Confusing) 3
      Being Ignored 3
      Losing Interest 3
      School Setting 3
      Celebrity 3
      Failed RC 2
      Foreign Language 2
      Salesperson 2
      Change in Age 1
      Loss of Motor Function 1
      Alligator 1
      Ghost 1
      Beach Setting 1
      Party Setting 1
      Blue Cat 1
      Changing Text 1

that way, i feel more confident about what to look for in my dreams.

-doing RCs like crazy throughout the day

good luck and don't give up!

That's a great start because it shows that you're THINKING about dreams while you're in one. And that's very close to KNOWING you're in one.

Try to get in the habit of asking yourself, "Is this a dream?" And if you're not sure if it's a dream or not. It's a dream. I've never thought I was dreaming when I was awake, so when in doubt, it's a dream.

      I won't give up, that's a promise!
Though it's a big moodkiller when I wake up and realize I just went along in the dream, accepting everything.

For those having trouble. Have you ever had a bad dream and tried to wake up? If you tried to wake up, there must have been some awareness that it was a dream.

So maybe next time you have a bad dream and you have that urge to wake up, that's when you can stop for a second and realize that means you're in a dream!

Well, yesterday I was partying pretty hard, got to sleep very late, drunk.
Some hours later I got my first LD!
I was in a dream, realizing that I was dreaming. Got so excited I woke up before I could say "reality check". Awesome anyway. I mean, progress!

Thank you all for your support!
