      Question Lucid Dream?

I'm not really sure what happened, but I think I lucid dream into a false awakening.

At the start of my dream, I thought, "I am dreaming." 'My' body started to feel like water and I felt like I was falling. Instantly, I 'woke up' in my bed. The first thing I did was get up and write in my dream journal. From there onwards, 'I' went outside and the rest was a completely normal dream. I actually woke up in my couch after my dream.

I would say that I experienced lucidity, but somehow it felt....deliberate. I can't really explain it. What do you think?

If at any point in the dream you realized that you were dreaming, and it "clicked" for you (you actively realized exactly what was going on, rather than absent-mindedly claiming to be dreaming), then you had a lucid dream.

Ah, so you can be lucid without actual control of the dream?

      In short: Yes

Lucidity is knowing you're dreaming when you're dreaming.

You can have lucidity without any control.

You can also have control, but still not realise you're dreaming (I get this a lot - I'm a control freak!)!

Absolutely!! In fact, I recommend that all new lucid dreamers just spend time in their first few dreams looking around and exploring. Kind of getting familiar with the lucid state.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Lucidity has nothing to do with control. It just means you are aware you're dreaming.

For that matter, lucid dreams are very similar to reality. You have control (usually) over your own actions in waking life, but no control whatsoever of anything else. For example, you can choose to walk out your front door, but you have no control over who you will see outside. Same thing in a dream. You go to the door, you walk out, and who knows who will be out there? You can try to "will" someone to be there in a dream. But it may or may not work. Usually doesn't work to be honest. Or you might successfully "will" one person to be there, but several other unexpected people will be there as well and ruin your plans. You just never know.
