I have a similar problem, but an answer as well, haven't put to the test yet though as I haven't been lucid in a while.

A second before you figured out you were dreaming, your mind was fully asleep, assuming you don't use WILD. So it seems appropriate to take your time to become fully awake and fully lucid. This way you can think about your goals and about how to achieve them.

This is a commob problem, I know it too.
What helps is the dream incubation technique by Steven LaBerge he presents in Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming (which is, by the way, a book worth reading).

You simply put whatever you want to do in a LD into a phrase. For example "I want to crush into Las Vegas"
Write that sentense down and memorize it. beneath it, write another sentense like "When I dream of crushing into Las Vegas, I will remember that I am dreaming."

Repeat that sentense in your head when going to sleep and imagine how you do whatever you want to.

      Hope this helps a bit

      Cheers

you can do that, or you can simply write out a list dream goals that you want to achieve, and think about them before going to sleep.
