      Relaxation

      61-point-technique in Stephen's book.

I have been using this technique in order to relax my body before falling into sleep. Sometimes I have managed to induce a mental state in which I seem to be floating numb in a blue heavy space (or something like this). Feeling positive and anxious to see whether I would slide directly into a dream (WILD?). This has never happened.

Luckily, I have been more fortunate with DILD's: I wonder if my success in achiving DILD's is somehow related to the using of this technique? What is your personal opinion about this technique? Do you think it really contriutes to achieving LD's?

Sleep paralysis: Those of you who have experienced sleep paralysis: do you think that sleep paralysis could be 'produced' by this or another similar relaxation technique? Or is sleep paralysis something totally different?

Which other mental techniques do you use except 61-point to induce lucid dreams?

Hmm...the technique is designed to help you relax your body completely and allow you to more easily enter sleep or more easily enter SP (for WILD attempts). However, if your mind and intentions are on LDing and you are using this technique in preparation for a LD, I suppose it could help achieve a DILD more easily. I personally don't use this technique because it takes to long and is too much work for what it does (imo).

I think that relaxation techniques definately can help lead to SP. They allow your body to relax completely in preparation for sleep.

I personally like to use the flex-freeze relaxation technique in my WILD technique found in my sig. I have also used some others that worked for me. Mental counting "One...i'm dreaming, two...I'm dreaming" and so on. I have also tried self-hypnosis with a bit of success as well.

Well, hope I helped out a bit. Good luck to you in future efforts!

      Hi KingYoshi,

tested MBTB + WILD with alarm clock this night. Used flex freeze (very effective, quick and easy), did rolling after 7 minutes (good idea, too). No WILD but had 4 different entries in my DJ. Categories: Sports, WTF, Romance, Romance Will keep using this technique combination from now on to see if I can improve and do WILD one night.

Awesome! Remember, even if you don't achieve a WILD during an attempt, it adds experience to your resume. Just keep at it and soon your experience will lead to your success. Good luck in your future attempts and congrats on the 4 entry recall!

I normally use reverse blinking while counting breaths as my main relaxation technique. I also like to focus on the imaginary feeling of my head and feet sinking into the bed. I alternate between pushing my feet into the bed, then my head. I don't actually move. Just imagine.

Thanks for mentioning these mental techniques, Robot.

It could probably be a good idea to get some 'motion' into picture. Something purely mechanistic. Maybe I could just accidentally slip into hypnagogic images if I casually followed the felt bodily sensations caused by mental 'movement'...? As I have understood, you cannot induce hypnagogic images by your own conscious will. And that they have to arise autonomously from your subconsciousness? So you have to 'be into something else' for HI to arise in the first place...?

When thinking of motion I am also thinking of the techniques with which you remain lucid while dreaming (i.e. moving your hands or feet, or rotating while dreaming...). Motion in this case helps you to keep 'your mental construction' (dream) around you 'upright'. You in a way allow your subconscious mind to continue its projecting, if you do something else and don't pay that much attention on the dream itself...

      Hope you understand my point.
